They have many remedies for this but I would ask one question, are you wearing Socks? If you are, take them Off and let your feet Breath I am sure it is heat related. I use to get it but seem to have acclimatized now, Wearing Rubber type trainers can affect feet too in this type of Weather. I wear canvas shoes but mainly very lightweight ones now and that helps a lot (Cheap as chips in many Town Stores)

I have only gotten swollen feet since walking on tiles, my feet puff right up and ache very bad, my wife has tried making me walk and still it persisted, only when I started to wear shoes and socks did the swelling go down...

You can guarantee the day I wear slippers (rubber thongs) or especially try walking on cold tiles in bare feet, my feet look like balloons! The next day I wear runners and thick socks and that night when I remove them I do not even recognise my feet they look so thin!

I have no idea what causes it but notice it mainly if I sit for long periods with my soles on cold tiled floors which I never had back in Oz and never experienced this problem back there.

My ankles swell up on long flights. Have to stay off my feet for about a day and keep them elevated.

I had also noticed on my first flight to the Philippines and back to Oz my feet and ankles became swollen and very sore. Before I came back to the Philippines I stayed at my ex Bro In-laws for a while and my feet became swollen, which I assumed was because of the tiled floors. I went to the Dr who ran tests and found I was riddled with blood clots due in part to having Hemochromatosis. My Dr was dead set against me flying back to the Philippines due to severe blood clotting but I flew regardless, he was concerned I would suffer a stroke or heart attack or something. Turns out my Daughter has the same thing and needs to wear the compression type stockings to help with blood clotting and leg/feet pain.

Reading the above links I posted earlier, I now realise what most likely my problem is with associated Heart/ Liver and Kidney problems... Welcome to old age and a misspent youth... :o o:

I try same a few years ago, my feet swallow up, to more than double size, not possible to wear any kind of shoes/sandals. A friend visit me, when he saw my feet, he said, that called elephant feet, he went to pharmacy and bought some diuretic, get water out of body. After 3-4 days my feet was normal, and it never came back

That can work but it would also pay to visit your Dr and establish the exact cause to ensure correct treatment.

Although simple swollen feet come to all of us sometimes, most of the posts seem to describe edema, which I am well familiar with. It is fluid build up to due to poor circulation in your feet and legs. The best way to combat chronic edema is exercise, even just walking. On a long flight it helps tremendously to work your calf muscles by pointing you feet up and down rapidly for a few minutes. Better is to stand and do "toe stands" on the balls of you feet, up and down rapidly. This works your calves the best and alleviates the swelling or at least helps it. The local home remedies, they call it "beri beri" are to sit on the beach just at the water's edge and bury your feet in the sand at least ankle deep. The leaves you refer to, I believe, are Guyabano leaves. The tree is very common in the Philippines. If you take a 5 or 6 leaves and boil them in 2 cups of water and boil down to 1 cup and drink it, it is supposed to help edema. It helps mine as does the sea water and sand. The exercise does the most good. Hope this helps. It is only my own experience. My edema for some reason is always worse in the US. It has to be diet and exercise, that's the only variable.
P.S. I guess you could wrap you feet in the Guyabano leaves but I've never tried it.

Anyone with swollen feet (or swellings elsewhere.... except one place for males*) should consult a GP as there can be underlying causes. Best to check it out the first time. Also, if only ONE foot or leg swells then check it out URGENTLY as it could be deep vein thrombosis (DVT) which could be fatal. DVT is, as most know, a risk during long flights and compression socks and exercise during the flight are advisable. [* If any man finds a swelling in this part then please consult a woman if available].
