years before Duterte has not became a president yet, there are already numerous killings in the Philippines. Here are the statistics:

    Murder and Homicide... in Philippines

    2010 - 12,352
    2011 - 11,864
    2012 - 11,506
    2013 - 16,160
    2014 - 13,105
    2015 - 12,481

    - PNP (Philippine National Police) Directorate for Investigative and Detective Management.

The average killings since the year 2010 are almost the same.

"currently there are more than a million of surrenderees. Here are the statistics:

    B. AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines)
    I. KIA (Killed in Action): 3
II. WIA (Wounded in Action): 8

    - PROs (Philippine Regional Offices).

2,512 killed in legitimate operations adding the

4,000+ DUI (Deaths Under Investigation) or are according to mainstream media as EJK (Extra-Judicial Killings). These are carried off by illegal drug syndicates (cleansing their own ranks), scalawag policemen, vigilantes and some are like heart attacks and cancers (media included some of natural causes). Consider it 7000+.

7000+ out of 1,000,000+ is less than 1% (0.007 or so).

That's an odd argument for the death penalty....being that it isn't one at all. You provided no statistics that show the death penalty deters crime (or drugs) in any significant way.

That's a lot of houses. If there are 100M people in the Philippines and average family size is around 5 (4.6), but I'll use round numbers. That's 20M houses if they all have houses. If they visited 6.8M, that means they visited 1/3 of all households in the Philippines. Statistically speaking that means several members of this forum have been visited. Has anyone here been visited?

Population of Metro Manila 12.8M 2.6M households
    of Cebu 3.8M .8M households
    of Davao 2.5M .5M households

Something seems off.......unless they have visited nearly 100% in the major cities.

I hope they are also doing the census at the same time. It would save them a lot of money.

Here are some more interesting statistics which I find disturbing living near to Zamboanguita. I would have assumed that the Cities would have had a higher concentration of Drug users compared to the poorer outlaying barangays where money is scarce and food is (should be) more important to survival... :o o:

In Negros Oriental, 2,456 drug pushers and users have surrendered from July 1 to 7, records of Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office showed. Those who have turned themselves in at Guihulngan City were 475, Sibulan, 467, Tanjay City, 241, San Jose, 165, Bais City, 154, Dauin, 146, Amlan, 145, Bayawan City, 129, Tayasan, 65, Vallehermoso, 60, Zamboanguita, 59, Basay, 56, Dumaguete City, 47, Sta. A TOTAL of 3,493 drug pushers and users have surrendered to the police in Negros Island Region (NIR) as of July 7, records show. In Negros Occidental, a total of 1,037 drug personalities have yielded. Chief Inspector Mark Darroca, head of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG), said all those included in the listed have undergone profiling. They were interviewed and their mug shots were taken, he added. The highest number of surrenderees were in Sipalay City, with a total of 144. In Ilog, 109 surrendered, Kabankalan City, 187, La Carlota City, 78, Binalbagan, 69, Murcia 64, Victorias City, 62, Talisay City and Cauayan, 56 each, Cadiz City, 34, E.B. Magalona, 31, Hinigaran and Hinobaan, 27 each; Pulupandan and Valladolid, 23, Moises Padilla, 13, Sagay City, 11, Pontevedra, 9, La Castellana, 7, Isabela, 6, and Calatrava, 1. One hurt, five nabbed Meanwhile, a drug suspect was injured while five others were arrested in separate drug busts across Negros Island on July 7. In Tanjay City, one of the two suspects was injured after he resisted arrest during the operation at Barangay 5. Senior Inspector Ryan Jay Orapa, chief of Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) in Negros Oriental, identified the suspects as subject Norivic Sy, and his injured runner Franchise Xavier Saycon. They are considered Level 3 drug pushers as they are under the city’s drugs watchlist. Orapa said Saycon attempted to stab a policeman, and he was shot in the foot. Joint operatives of PAIDSOTG, Provincial Intelligence Branch, Special Operations Group, Provincial Public Safety Company, and Tanjay City Police Station raided Sy’s house which led to the recovery of seven sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride). The recovered items weighed 10 grams with an estimated value of P100,000. Orapa said Sy was convicted for possession of illegal drugs in 2001, and currently out on parole. Charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for sale and possession of illegal drugs were already filed against Sy, who is detained. Saycon, who is being treated at a hospital, is guarded by police. Over at Negros Occidental, three men were arrested by police after they yielded eight sachets of shabu in a buy bust at Barangay 12, Victorias City. Police identified the subject as Vicor Karl Mosquera, 32. Also arrested were Michael Garcia, 43, of Victorias City, and Ronel Solas, 31, of Manapla town who were caught inside Mosquera’s house. Also seized were drug paraphernalia, the P300 marked money, P1,200 in cash, and two cellular phones. A man was also arrested for sale and possession of illegal drugs in Pontevedra town. Police seized three sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, and the P200 marked money from Eddie Delgado, 31. Chief Inspector Ariel Pico, chief of Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said Delgado is under the town’s drugs watchlist. Delgado voluntarily surrendered to police last Monday and took an oath to stop his engagement in illegal drugs, but three days later, he was arrested for continuing his trade. Delgado is detained pending preliminary proceedings.

I don't think the low quality is due to the method used to make the bricks. Probably has more to do with the mixture they are using.

The two thing that concern me most about the death penalty are: 1) The 'justice' system in most countries is not fit for purpose as it is based upon the law trying to prove guilt at almost any cost (i.e. better to hang an innocent man than hang no one at all); 2) It is the survivors who suffer most ... the spouse, children, etc ... the executed have brief pain and their family have it for a lifetime. That is not to say that at times I have read of the most horrific crimes and want the perps to be killed slowly and painfully but, in reality, it is a major issue that I cannot fully resolve in my mind.
