    Very few, if any, foreigners are actually customers of NORECO. The co-op only allows the property owners to be members and foreigners are seldom property owners. So we are sub-customers if anything. Why should they listen to our complaints when we are not even customers. But complain we do.

    It seems to me that filipinos are the customers and filipinos are happy with notification on Facebook. If they were not then they would complain.

    Since foreigners can have no property rights and no ownership in the Electric co-op and little understanding of how and why they do things then I would say we have to accept or complain to the one who's name is on the electric bill. Whether that is your wife or your landlord, it is the person who is responsible for your supply of electricity. I could be mistaken though. How many foreigners here have an electric bill in their name, which would actually make them customers?

    When someone is requiring to have very reliable utilities he will have to check this point in advance while choosing a location.

    It is very interesting looking at the very wide spreading range of the quality of the utilities in the Philippines. Some areas even have potable water from the faucet while other areas the water is so bad that you should not even use it for shower or tooth brushing. Same counts for the electric power. Some area have a reliability similar to Europe while other you have to be lucky if you get more than 4 hours of electrical power per day. Same counts for internet also.
    With areas is meant that these can even be next to each other (even in same barangay) and still have a completely differences at availability of the utilities.

    I finally found the NORECO Page so I now know in advance as well as the reasons WHY we normally get Brownouts every Saturday here in Maluay, knowing helps to better understand why this is always happening (including Wrye's Post) instead of thinking it was just some sort of vendetta thing... :wink:

    For others who are trying to find to find these pages which notify when the work is to commence cutting power to your area, the links are below;

    This was bought up in the past here on the forum (maybe in a private forum) but nothing came of it because of reasons mentioned by JP. FB is currently the only way to get these notifications. Someone in NORECO management does own the domain name for the company (and it was purchased long ago), would be nice if they would create a website, if not just for posting these updates and/or having an RSS feed. Something like that would cost them less than $50/year (they already pay $10+ for the domain name per year).

    I have previously created a feed on the forum from their FB page but I'm pretty sure it won't work for those that don't have a FB account...which defeats the purpose of having the feed on the forum for a lot of people.

    I could probably try to get a bit creative with IFTTT and the forum software to create an opt-in email list for their updates on Facebook without any approval/action from NORECO. Might look into that when I get back to my base (and after I catch up with work that built up during this vacation).

    You should see the previous x4 NORECO II notices on the side bar of every forum page now (or towards the bottom of the page if on a mobile device). Title will be a link to their Twitter page with the picture of the notice.

    If you have a feed reader app on your phone (Example: Feedly) you can enter in the RSS feed into the search of that app and add it to your favorites.

    Alternatively, many email programs (Example: Thunderbird, Outlook, etc) have an RSS feed option that will send you an email or notification when the feed is updated.

    The link you would enter into any feed reader would be:

    https://twitrss.me/twitter_user_to_rss/?user=norecotwo

    This is a quick fix to getting notifications about power interruptions. I can probably set it up to where the forum email account will send out emails to a list for anyone wanting to be on such a distro list later.

    Not quite on topic, however .... I am relatively new here but am amazed by this site for its mine of information, the positive attitude of 99.9% of members and I just don't know how Wyre83 gets the time to look after it. Great respect for you.

    NORECO is well aware that many of its customers are renters and that the renters are the real customers. We renter are the ones using the electricity and we renters are the ones paying the bill in most cases. It's only good customer service to take care of ones customers. Too many people don't seem to grasp where the money comes from that pays their wages.
    And many Filipinos do not complain no matter what. My wife is one of them and she is very typical. And she doesn't use Facebook either.
