That reminds me of chapter 2 of my story. When I left Robinsons I wanted to go past downtown to Neva's Pizza. I don't like to catch a trike at Robinsons as I find they gouge foreigners for higher prices so i walked out the side entrance and caught one on the street by Citi Hardware.

I asked if he was going near Neva's Pizza. He had one other passenger and said "sure" so I hopped in. When we got there, I figured it would be 10 from Robinsons to downtown and another 10 from downtown to Neva's Pizza. So I was going to give him 20. Then I saw that it was already after dark and I had read that fares are double at night so I pulled out 2 20's and gave them to him.

His reply: "No sir, you have given too much. 20 pesos is enough thank you." And he returned one of the 20s. Goes to show how one trike driver is so much different than another.

I still have to check on the after dark issue. I've only paid double after midnight.

Not alone of course :hilarious: nothing I can do when the people I know who have cars aren't available but it's better than drunk motorbike drivers.

Even I have a car, sometimes I take jeepney or trike, if there some events in Dumaguete and lot of traffic. I enjoy stay behind on the jeepeny Bacong-Dumaguete, 10 peso, thats's like a free ride. If power shopping or lazy,I take trike from Lee plaza to Bacong, I ask 100 peso, always okay and pay 120-150 peso incl.tip, 150 if they don't talk to much, and try sell me their sister, lol. Sometimes I park at Robinsons and take trike to city, never a problem, when I pay 10 peso like all other do. In my country I need pay around 300 peso to step in a taxi, then taximeter start. Vans and trike from ferry pier I avoid, the want make joke to a white man

From after midnight until when? I ask because I walked to the Sibulan pier with my gf at 4 am so she could catch the early ferry/bus to Cebu. Its only a 20 minute walk but we saw a half a dozen tricycles at that time of day.

I asked her if she wanted to take a trike and she said no as we had already planned time to walk (we did not expect to find a trike at 4 am). So I a wondering if they would have also charged double?

I have experienced some very colorful Tricycle drivers in the past few years here, 9 out of 10 I enjoy that they try to make the trip more enjoyable with a little conversation, have always had the wife with me to help translate anything on the hard side to decipher.

You're not standing at the back of an overloaded jeepney right!? If an accident happens, the insurance won't pay you. Trikes are cheap although when I return to the Philippines, I'll leave the thought of comparing it to the taxi price here in Japan. The comfort is different--long distance rides aren't advisable for those with even slight back injuries. And my source of income won't be the same when I retire there so I don't mind if I am called "kuripot".

The price doubles when you're going home after having so much fun (they can smell that). You might not even have the same problem if your starting point is a hospital.

Yes I do, enjoy it very much. My gf sometimes join me and sit inside, she told me other passengers say, no problem if he fall of, he can pay, ha ha. I hold on, after 2 accidents on bike (not my fault), think bike is more dangerous. I need to admit, I take what comes, and don't stop live and enjoy, even it can be little exciting sometimes, better than die of heart attack on the couch
