Does anyone know where I can park a car for a few days in Bacolod? I want to drive to Bacolod and then ferry over to Iloilo. Thanks in advance
If not interested in the ro-ro I would just park the car at the SM mall and catch a taxi to the port. I think it will be alright if you don't leave it sitting there for more than a week. (A week is about how long it would take security/police to find a tow-truck.) I would park it at the security shack right next to the motorcycle parking area and ask the security guard if he would watch it for a couple days...and throw him a hundred pesos or so. Not that he will actually watch your vehicle, just as more of a "turn your head the other way" type of thing.
Parking at SM sounds like a good idea. Has anyone driven to Bacolod lately? Road conditions? Good/Bad/Construction? My car does not have a lot of ground clearance.
Dave..stay a night at Palmas Del mar resort.. very nice and easy to get to. Ask them about parking in the back lot. Guarded and secure... 09998851261 or info@palmasdelmarresort.com.....
A friend just came back yesterday with no problems with Mabinay route. Please let us know about your trip. I used the D S Benedicto two years ago and I loved the scenery, I might try the Mabinay route next time but not a round trip. I'm thinking of a flight from Cebu/Manila to Iloilo and take the ferry to Bacolod then the road trip to Dumaguete.
I just got back now. The road was good with a few minor construction areas. My car rides low and it did not scrap on anything. There are a few potholes big enough to cook a chicken in but they are easily avoided. There is a pay parking lot with security at the ferry terminal. As soon as you enter the main gate of the port and pay the 10 or 20 pesos fee, turn right and the security shack is about 30 meters along on the right. If the lot is full just wait for a while. Hopefully when the next ferry arrives a parking spot might become available. If you have to wait for a spot just block the gate and follow whoever is retrieving their car to their parking spot. If you don't block the gate you could end up second in line. COST about 30 pesos per day.
