Does anyone know of an Apple Safari expert. I have a website I never signed up for showing up and not able to delete with the normal clear. The website says I have to sign into my account to delete it and I don't have an account and surely don't want to send my name/address.
The website shows in website data. Normally you clear all and the sites are deleted but this one stays. I had a look at their site and it says their policy states you can not delete an account once you open an account. In my case I never opened an account. Another site said to delete it sign into your account first. I'm reluctant to send my email address. Making matters worse it appears to be a chat site for girls to meet foreigners, guys meet girls, gays meet gays. I never even belonged to a chat site or dating site when I was single. The last thing I want is gay guys wanting to chat with me. My wife says she didn't do it and has her own laptop anyway. Anyone interested their site is **********.
Removed the name of the site from your post and the forum. It is a live cam porn site. I don't understand what your browser history has to do with having an account on the site. It seems like someone used the computer to look at porn and didn't clear the browser history. Any other males in the house? I'd be keeping an eye on my debit/credit card statement for awhile.
You could try the steps in this article. How to fully reset Safari on your Mac Personally, I would setup everyone with their own accounts and sign out when I'm done with my session. It's an extra step to sign in, but I wouldn't want anyone messing with my user settings, including browser activity.
It is not necessary to visit that site. It can be that the user visited a website which got hacked or being infected with malware. Better run some antimalware programs on your computer. At best prepare a rescue disc prepared with antimalware programs on a clean computer. Boot that disc and run the programs on it. Network connection required. On a mac do the same but booting from the disc is more complicated.
My Apple laptop and iPhone were stolen when my house was robbed 6-8 months ago but I never encountered any problems I am aware of. I can neither confirm or deny that I ever flashed through a porn site or opened something naughty someone emailed me but I know I never signed up for an account on any X site. The iPad has limited display capability but I will get that POS off my ipad.
I am no techy but if this thing has appeared as a programme can't you remove by using the Control panel?
