I don't know all 50 state's laws on renewing drivers licenses online. I just provided a possible solution. I think the OP was speaking about California so.....New York? However, since New York is being hostile and uncooperative with service members I would just lie about my address and have someone forward it to me overseas....and give NY state a big middle finger if they had a problem with it. (I'd also probably send some not so nice words to whoever the Senator was in the state.)

Understood. I just got excited for my bf to do the online thing.

Does he have family in NY? Just use their address for the license and have them forward it out to the Philippines. That rule about no online registration for people overseas sounds more like a "suggestion" to me.

Their online renewal (probably most states that offer it) probably relies on total automation. The license gets printed, stuffed into a prepaid (US First Class postage) envelope and shipped out the door unseen and untouched by humans. It would never get to an overseas address that way since the postage is inadequate. Making exceptions requires staff and more money to pay them, as well as more money for postage. Hence, they don't do it.

Aside from that likely scenario, I would not in a million years want a document like my driver license mailed to the Philippines. I would give it 50-50, at best, on ever arriving in your hands. And, if it does, by the time you get it the license would probably be due for renewal again. PhilPost would blame the US Mail. US Mail would blame PhilPost.

Look at my previous post. I stated to have it shipped to someone else in the US and then forward it to you in the Philippines. I wouldn't use USPS or Philpost to have something like that delivered to the Philippines. I would use a much more reliable service that keeps it out of the Philpost's hands.

And everyone would know who was actually to blame for the lost package.

And please read my post. It was not a response to anything you posted. It was a plausible explanation as to WHY DMVs in the US won't ship to the Philippines and why no one would even want them to do so even if they were willing.

Actually, I didn't even read your post. So there is no way I would be responding to it. It had NOTHING to do with you or your post.

Sorry about that then; quoting my post (which requires you to hit the "reply" button) threw me off a bit and had me thinking you were "replying" to me.
