Just a short update on exit clearance,a friend travelling back to the uk checked with the bi in cebu about the ecc ans was told the waiting time was up to 10 days now to process. He also asked if he could get at cebu airport as he was under the 12 months stay and was clearly told no!
They are all pissed at the moment as they had their bonus payments and overtime cut by the removal of the so called express lane fees.
No more express lane fees at BI in Jmall Cebu at least. I have no first hand knowledge of elsewhere but understand that all of BI is the same. As a result of no express lane fee and the subsequent cutting of all overtime, I have to return on 6-21 to pick up my passport after having submitted the form, paying the fees, etc., on 6-16. My next door neighbor left the same day with his passport as did the fellow I was with on the 16th. I will not comment on how they managed this except to say that this is the Philippines. I had the option but decided to make the return trip as instructed on my receipt. The wait time for the submission and reclaim was just as long as ever. The difference was that when they called me to reclaim my passport they gave my receipt back with a date written on it and instructed me to return on that date for my passport. There were a couple of guys that made a big scene when not getting their passports back but they left without them anyway.
Just had a message back from him saying he went in mon am for exit visa and was told it would be ready on fri.
Am I correct in thinking the Exit Clearance is to be sure a person leaving has no 'outstanding issues' in The Philippines? If so, I am puzzled why, on another site, I have just read stories of families being delayed because their children (age 11 months in one case and twins of 3 months in another) had no Exit Clearances.
Babies always be disturbing the peace with their constant whining and nagging. Just because their babies doesn't mean they are above the law.
