I want to have a swimming pool built at my house. I do not want it to use chlorine but want a healthier option. I understand that copper/silver ionization is an alternative. Has anyone installed such a pool? Who is a good and experienced pool builder? I know that Pyramid Dan had such a pool at his resort in Valencia but he is divorced now and no longer there. Nobody at the place knows how it was done or maintained. Anybody know how to contact Dan? I want to put the pool at the back of our house off the porch. Since our land is sloped, there is a drop off from our porch of about 5 feet so there will not be as much digging as an in-ground pool, so no heavy digging equipment is required.

I had a couple of years in Orange County as a pool guy, and in Australia. My view is that ionised pools are a heap of trouble. I can understand your concerns about chlorine. Have you considered a salt pool? Here's an url with some good info. When I left Orange Country (too many republicans) around 2005, they were just beginning to become popular. If they're available here, who knows... Good luck
Salt water pools seem to be the most popular these days. It's not like swimming in salt water, plus it's easier on the eyes and clothing than chlorine pool. What Is A Salt Water Pool? - INYOPools.com
My last pool was a "salt" pool. The level of salt in the pool is not noticeable, nothing like the ocean. The unit then separates the chlorine from the salt as needed to maintain . No big swings in chlorine levels as you add it then 'gets used up' and you have to add again. The maintenance of needing to add salt is much less and is not really noticeable as a swimmer. Very much recommended, I would not build a pool without it.
