    everyone seems only concerned about cost of premiums when imho the important question is what will my philhealth coverage get me in case of illness or hospital stay?under new case rate system the answer is very very little..better off just saving a little each month towards hospital bill should that day come.

    I went today. Up the stairs and to the desk on the left. Told her I was a member paid for 2017 but wanted to prepay. She gave me a short piece of paper to fill out name, address, membership number, and a priority number for the cashier. Filled out the form just in time for my number to come up. Told the cashier what I wanted, he asked what I paid for this year (p2400), charged me p6,000 for Jan 18 through Jun 2020. Out in under 10 minutes.

    I know it is a gamble but in the best case we are fully covered until july 2020 before the rate increase and lower benefits hit us. Even if benefits are reduced next week the pricing schedule should remain the same which was one of my original reasons for coverage in the first place. for example, broken arm for members cost x,xxx with Philhealth paying for most, even if no longer covered for part of the bill, as a member it will still be x,xxx and not xx,xxx. Price protection has value also.

    I know someone (Filipino) who had an op this month and was reimbursed by Phil Health P12,000 of the P58,000 cost.

    Slightly off topic, but does PhilHealth have drug coverage?

    For me; my Wife was always worrying about "What if" and in the end I got to thinking; that some cover is better than no cover at all. Too many things can go wrong, and while most times nothing goes wrong, "What if"...

    So for the miserly sum of 11,700 pesos, to be covered until mid 2020, gives her that peace of mind that should we ever have the misfortune to avail their services, then it will pay for itself in the first claim.

    IF we ever need to avail a second/third time, then it will more than pay for itself, so until such time; we will continue to put money away in case of emergency with the knowledge that IF we ever need to avail Philhealth in the future, then hopefully with the newly set charges, the Hospital will not see us as a Ca$h Cow and overcharge us, like the many stories I have heard, and from what I have experienced personally when helping others in the past...

    I think it is excellent value and well worth the risk when there are no other real alternatives out there for me or my Family.

    Wife and myself are covered till 1st July 2017, then after only the wife because I don't have a residence card yet. How much a month would it cost me to get Phil-health until I have my ACR card?

    I am not entirely sure of your status here Jim but this is the latest I can find online that covers who can be covered;

    http://google.com/philhealth-health-insurance-foreigners-philippines/

    Or maybe quicker for you to phone (ask your wife to talk to them if you need) and seek the answer you require; (Numbers below)

    This is getting hard with so many Philhealth topics to choose from here of late, closing one helped make me choose this one, so here goes;

    A Post I received in my Facebook:
    A Post I received in my Facebook, which I had to read twice as it seems to be somewhat cryptic, and then Google what I think are *hidden hints at gaining Full Cover under Philhealth for Foreigners... He also mentions the Z Package which I assumed was now off the cards for Foreigners, but....

    One statement he made in regards to the operation he had done here in the Philippines;
    *If you do it at the government hospital, then it is possible to get the PhilHealth Z Package. The Z Package is available for very major health issues that are very expensive.

    POST:
    Healthcare: Can the Philippines Help?

    He talks about being a part of the Informal Economy;
    QUOTE:
    Currently, there is a lot of talk, lots of rumors and changes for foreigner coverage under PhilHealth. Let me just say that there are ways that foreigners can get full coverage and even at the old price. Any foreigner can get PhilHealth coverage that does not include the Z Package, and the cost is P17,000 per year. *That is for foreigners who are part of the informal economy. If you have a job or employment of another type in the Philippines there are more options available to you.

    TO ADD TO THAT:
    Who are the Members in the Informal Economy?
    QUOTE:
    Citizens of other countries working and/or residing in the Philippines - foreign citizens with valid working permits and/or Alien Certificate of Registrations (ACRs), working and/or residing in the Philippines

    The place to ask about coverage for specific conditions is not the business office where you apply and pay, but the PhilHealth person in the hospital.
