I think that .357 would just explode some rats. Would be a bit pricey just to shoot a few rodents pests. I paid $40 for the one I bought online from Walmart. Accurate and powerful enough to get kill a large pigeon around 50-60 meters. Pretty sure most those bigger ones use cartridges. It looks like that one in the video has a secondary hand pump on the side.
Pump attachment where you can pump it up to pressure using a scuba tank or electric pump to 3000psi... More here: That was a *Tongue in cheek comment* as for the *real* reason I would want one here... hehe
Exploding rats would certainly make for some fun...the cleanup probably not so much. For home defense pistols and rifles make bad weapons. You probably won't hit sh*t while just waking up and in the dark. Swinging a bolo wildly in the dark is sure to get the job done. Now, if they make an air powered shotgun that might make for a good home defense weapon....though you might end up destroying anything they had planned on stealing. Worth it imo.
I don't know, the thought of a red dot from my laser site on the chest of the intruder gives me a warm fuzzy. Might also go a long ways towards spooking the intruder. Maybe I've just seen to many action flicks.....
I believe so. If it is completely dark a dot from a laser isn't going to help you see anything. Also, the ones that police and military use are infrared and can't actually be seen without night vision goggles (that's one movie trope that irks the sh*t out of me)....and for good reason: If you can see where your laser is pointing the person you are aiming at can see where the laser is coming from. In a completely dark environment that is going to give your location away and the person you are trying to aim at the advantage. (And if the intruder also has a gun they would just have to shoot at the source of the light.) Also, most people think they are a good shot....in a nice calm and controlled environment with targets that stand still. Get your adrenaline going and have someone moving around shooting back and a person is likely to not hit a d*mn thing. Unless a person has been in active combat environments on a regular basis a shotgun with 00 buckshot would be the way to go to protect themselves and their family.
That is why I looked at a 17-Shot Pistol here, if just one shot hits its mark out of the 17, then fingers crossed it will do its job, if the noise alone did not!
I used to use one of these back home for rabbit and pidgeon hunting, awsome air rifle. Used a small dive bottle to refil it and had a ten shot mag. Airarms is prob one of the best guns out there and very quiet with the suppressor.
Still, slugs have less penetrating ability and will lose velocity/punching power quickly. It will most likely only be deadly within the confines of the room your shooting in. Safer for everyone except the guy your aiming to hit and less chance of you getting thrown in prison for killing a neighbor or family member after it busts through your walls/windows. The 00 buckshot indoors is overkill. Probably best to use a #4 buckshot to reduce the risk of hurting others. #4 or 00 doesn't matter for the intruder, 20ft or closer the guy is dead....maybe slightly more deadly with the #4 given the extra holes the guy will have in him. Now here's a home defense weapon:
