Yes .... seems it would be the LAST place

Been reading about The Dominican Republic .... can go in with a Tourist Card (fast track online takes 15 minutes), which costs $30, and stay there without any further hassle and just pay a fine at the airport if overstay (about $1500 for an overstay of 10 years plus). Their medical facilities seem amazing.

I'm sure not the absolute "last" place, but it is probably in the bottom 50 countries a sick person would want to be treated.

I meant as in "the last place before you die".

Btw, like your new profile pic; has taken years off you.

SRRV Renewal for Courtesy (Military). I just renewed my SRRV with Cebu PRA, did everything via LBC. Courtesy Military is if you have your DD-214 (just served, retired not required), might be a good idea to get it "authenticated (red ribboned)" at a Philippine Consulate in US prior to arrival in PH and SRRV application.. (SF is consulate, "Embassy" is ONLY in Wash DC).

Oct 19: Deposited 520 P into the LandBank PRA peso account (free, no charge like a dollar deposit). Only for 1 yr renewal and only for ex-military, other rules apply for other applicants.

Oct 19: Sent ORIGINAL deposit slip via LBC to Jackie in Cebu PRA. Included SAE addressed to me.

Nov 13: SRRV renewal card arrived Cebu, LBC to me, arrived Dmge 14 Nov.

Also found out you can renew an SRRV for THREE years ($30) next time.

I wonder why they keep this "Military SRRV" such a secret? I could not find any mention of it anywhere on their website, either, but found out about it right here on this forum. Emailed their office and they were very forthcoming with the information. I've run into someone in Valencia who deposited the US$10,000 and got the "Classic SRRV." I mentioned that I only paid the US$1,400 since I was a veteran, and he was a bit upset because he was an honorably discharged veteran, too, but never knew of the program. Last I heard, the PRA does have a procedure to switch it over and recoup the difference in the deposit.

Renewal was incredibly easy. I emailed the PRA office in Manila
    (jmbmontales@yahoo.com) and Joanna replied promptly:

    ----------------------

    Hello Mr. -------,

Is your SRRV No. M-XXXXXX? If so, ID Fee is $10 good for 1 year. You have a choice to extend it for 3 years, fee would be $30. Plus the courier fee of P150

The procedure is to deposit the payment thru LandBank of the Philippines.
    Below are PRA Bank details:

Bank: Land Bank of the Philippines - Buendia Branch
    Account Name: Philippine Retirement Authority
    Account Number
    Peso account (PHP): 0052 10 5463
    Dollar Account (US$): 2204 00 8682

Once payment has been made, please provide us scanned copy of the deposit slip thru this email.

Is that your address on where to send the new ID? Because as per LBC (courier service provider), they don't deliver on PO Box.
    Thank you.

    Warm regards,
    Joanna

    --------------------------

I emailed back to ask if I could make the deposit at the Landbank in Dumaguete and gave them the address for the LBC Office in Daro to hold it for pickup (since I do use a PO Box in Valencia for mail.) Here is the response:

    ---------------------------

    Hi Mr. ------,

    Good day!

Yes, you can pay at Landbank Dumaguete. Yes, you can pay in peso, more or less P50 is the peso equivalent of $1.

You can just pick up your ID at the LBC branch nearest your residence. Kindly give me the LBC branch and address.

    Thank you so much!

    Warm Regards,

    ------------------------

Made the deposit at Landbank....amazingly simple and quick. They have a bit of special paperwork (one or two forms) at the bank to fill out for this. I used my smartphone to take a .jpg photo of the receipt and attached it to an email back to the Manila PRA. I picked up my new card at LBC Daro a few weeks later. The process was about as painless as one could reasonably have it.

I believe I created a thread a while back ago on this option. Information was collected from their website at the time.

Since website and postings get stale and outdated, and the fact that the PRA people in Manila and Cebu are very responsive to emailed questions, it's probably better to just ask them. At least the info would be up-to-date and hopefully accurate.

I noticed some people got a FBI clearance for the SRRV visa and it seems some used local police clearance from the USA. Can someone verify that the local police clearance is OK?

When i got my SRRV at the PRA in Cebu in November 2016, they ignored my (then local) San Francisco Police clearance and requested the report from PHILIPPINE NATIONAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION. My SF police report was even "authenticated" (red ribboned) from the PH consulate in SF.. I got the clearance (i forget the exact name) from the NBI behind the Provincial Capital (backs up to the LTO, which is off the drive circle behind the capital)... Went in, sat in line for 1/2 hour (even better if you're a senior), came back two weeks later and bingo...

ADDITIONAL NOTES: If you ever served in the us military and have your DD214, your deposit is $1400 instead of $10,000. Also, if they need something "notarized," (like dd214 and/or pension report) i went to the US Consulate at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu (this may have changed, they stopped for awhile when Pres Duterte and Washington got into a pissing match).. For things which had to be "authenticated" at DFA (Dept of Foreign Affairs Manila, DFA Dumaguete does not "authenticate," may also have changed in two years), like the stuff that was notarized, i used JR Coca (on farcebook), who was recommended to me by Jackie at the PRA.. ..
