Maybe but I am sure there are some who wish to know also... :whistling:

I really don't think Paypal cares either way as long as they get their money. I got stung once as a Seller and twice as a buyer and each time Paypal ignored my request to have money reimbursed. I really no longer intend to sell on eBay, only buy, but even that is limited due to Paypal here with their stupid decision to not allow residents of the Philippines to top up their accounts using their Bank accounts to directly upload their credit to their Paypal account. :banghead:

I doubt it is that simple. They didn't get as big as they did by screwing everyone over. Their service works without any problems for the large majority of buyers. They were one of, if not, the first to hit the online payment market so sellers really didn't have much choice at the time.

I wouldn't allow it either if I were PayPal with all the credit card/account fraud in the Philippines. (I never would have even bothered with servicing the country at all.) They are one of the top spam/scam/fraud/stolen identity/get-something-for-nothing countries out there and there is little to no chance of ever catching a person who breaks a law online. If IPv6 would ever fully roll out there might be something the ISPs could do about it.....but when you have everyone behind a small number of ISP proxy IP addresses one hacker/fraudster fucks all the legitimate users using the same IP address.

I got stung three times out of several hundred transactions, a very small failure rate but a failure none the less when I was diddled by two dishonest sellers and one stuff up on their part where I agreed to cancel the sale as the buyer claimed his kid hit the buy now button and we went through the process or so I thought, but I was charged the fee regardless.

IF Paypal allowed DIRECT UPLOADING from the Paypal user's bank Account then I cannot see how a manual upload can go awry, it is by forcing Philippines Paypal users to use a Credit Card to load money from their Cards instead of from their Bank Account, is where I can see more problems arising when you account for the dishonest people... :o o:

Stolen cards and compromised online banking accounts are EVERYWHERE in the Philippines and can be linked to a PayPal account that matches the card/bank account owners name. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the required personal information you need once you have stolen a card or account. You can also just straight up buy stolen card/account with all their information online. There are valid reasons why PayPal does what they do. They aren't restricting Philippine PayPal accounts just to be dicks.

Edit: I don't like PayPal, especially being a seller or having a business account (different than just selling something a few times and getting paid for it), but I understand why they do what they do. I don't really blame them for taking some of the steps they take. It is worth noting that Google directly competed with them for awhile and was just as hard to deal with as a seller/business. There are other sites like SagePay that have the same issues.

A debit card is a visa card.the only difference is it's all your money, not theirs.

Only if it is affiliated to a financial centre, ie, Visa, Banknet, or such like, you normally have little icons on your card that will tell you who it is affiliated to. You can use it at any of the Shops Etc that have the same symbol posted at checkouts But many times certain Shops do not take certain cards best check before you shop at Customer Service which is normally before to go into the sales area
Mine is Banknet but can only be used in the PI, My Visa one is accepted just about anywhere
    Hope this helps?

With a debit card if you select credit at the terminal and not savings or cheque, there are no fees with most banks. Also your purchase is covered for fraud, just like a full credit card. And in some cases for instance is you buy an airline ticket, you are covered for losses by visa for instance. You need to read your individual bank's brochure on it.

Thank you. May I know how many days did it take the bank to hand you the banknet card? Visa I guess takes two weeks...they say something like sending it to Cebu which isn't good for me because I can't stay there that long.
