NORECO II is Experiencing Rotating Brownouts

What are facts in Philippines? You want to see the newspaper report that this will only go for another 5 days? I could link to that, but its rubbish. Its a guess. They are working on restoring power to parts of Leyte hit by an earthquake, working on it as best they can, and until then they are "borrowing" power from the national grid that requires areas like Cebu and Duma to experience rotating 1 hour brown outs every day until they can get the power running in Leyte.

So if anyone tells us how long this will go on for it can only be a guess. I hope the newspaper is correct when it says this is only a short term event, like days not weeks.

Notes: Why can't Noreco2 produce a similar "feeder map", certainly would be helpful, i'll have to drop by and ask ???? And predicting whether the brownout will be 3pm or 7pm or both is a bore.

And dreaming, but why couldn't the provinces and residents get together and reduce their usage by 25% so the entire Visayas could have fewer/ shorter rolling "BLACKouts" ("brownouts," are a euphemism, as an earlier poster said).... California was getting so good at saving that the utilities are now trying their damnedest to screw anyone that goes solar.

 

Noreco II is a lot bigger than Leyeco V and therefore can't do this, However there is a notice here to that effect (Thanks to Dustin) you can find it on the Right hand panel of the Post page

 

Hey Jack, thanks, did look at those. I'm skeptical that Noreco can't do something like this. I would be surprised if noreco has NO control over which feeders rotate out, I would think they just get instructions on how much to shed, not instructions on which feeders ??.

As far as under-grounding, several factors, such as earthquakes, cost of underground versus new poles, ease of access, construction work with lack of detailed concern about underground conduit locations. Undergrounding utilities in california was $250,000 USD PER BLOCK, over P12 million for each block, but that's there, not here.....
