I have been using Smart LTE for over a year, it's been reliable and fast. As I have posted before, if my daughter or myself goes on youtube or any streaming video it is capped to 0.03kbps in around 1 hour. I beat the system a little by only loading surfmax 50 for one day and when it is capped it resets after midnight, so I get 800mbps 2 times in 24 hours. My question is if I also go with Globe prepaid with no capping, what program is the best and how is it loaded? Thanks, Ron
I don't get a very good Smart signal here in Bacong and eventually ended up with a 5Mbps/50GB Globe broadband postpaid plan as prepaid would slow to a crawl during peak hours and I want a steady connection. My backup for large downloads is Globe prepaid on Time browsing (only have to set up time browsing and turn off surf alert once on the sim which I did from the modem text app, I load the sim using share a load from my phone with p15 max as I expect it all to be used up during a session.) p5 for 15 minutes but they seem to have a slow timer. On numerous occasions p15 lasted a couple hours. Between the hours of 1am and 6am it is fast enough to download several GB (downloading 5 torrents at a time last time I remember speeds were 1.1MB, 1.0MB, 900kb, 900kb, and 600kb. Best session ever was p30 for 13 GB, might have done more but went to sleep and that was all I had qued)
Just letting you all know, PLDT is comming to install my Fibr this... or next week. So i guess my question about when will they serve the home connections wasn't so strange at all. Now let's hope it will work... a little ... sometime...
Congrats Dutchjob. You have renewed my faith in PLDT. Maybe it is more fun in Philippines. Thanks for keeping us all updated and it would sure be nice to hear from you again when its all working and you know what the upload and download speeds are.
I am going to reserve congratulations until we get the closing statement and cash the check, oops I mean the after action report, oops again I mean until he lets us know what kind of performance he is getting a couple weeks after install. Ya that's the right one...
If you do not mind; how much is the PLDT Fiber Optic connection for Installation and Monthly Service? When Fil-Products connected me here to their Cable Internet/ TV Package I enquired regards their Fiber Optic and was informed for Home connection, it would set me back around 60,000+php to connect and 30,000+php per month to avail with Data limits. A guy from a local Resort here said that they are paying 100,000php to connect, I never asked what they would be paying per month after the initial shell-shock. I happily accepted their 6Mbps (Unlimited) Cable connection at 2,200php per month instead without complaint. But with all of the Highway widening and improvements it would be nice if something better/faster were to find its way further south in time.
I live within 1 km of Fil Products HQ, on the edge of Dumaguete City, in a populous subdivision and they were unable to offer me any cable whatsoever. Without seeming impolite Brian (), I assume Zamboanguita is a rather rural and isolated area, still using 'Pony Express' and bows and arrows, so it seems amazing to me that you have Cable. If I am wrong about Zamboanuita then obviously I need to get out more!
Mate I waited more than two and a half years just to find ONE Provider willing to connect me! Globe & Smart are absolutely USELESS with little to no reception and making calls here is totally futile! Bayantel who were providing the locals here, was (I am told) bought out by Globe, who in all their wisdom, are currently disconnecting existing customers from a working service, in an attempt to get them to sign up for Globe Internet, which doesn't work here period, and who (Globe) have no intentions of installing more Towers to cater for us regards Cell Phone reception. Yet I am 99.9% sure that Globe supplies Fil-Products with their Internet which works a treat now TF! *touch wood* I am told that they (Fil-Products) are rolling out the cables from Zamboanguita towards Dumaguete, as of last March they had progressed past the Maluay Bridge, so hold your breath mate, I am sure they will get to you in good (2.5 years?) time... lol
PLEASE PLEASE Brian, for the sake of the most impressionable here, do not give bad advice! I took your advice and died after only 4 minutes. (Just joking Brian... I didn't really mate ... so put down that brandy)
