Meaning no disrespect to the departed, but is Bacong the only town where a tent is placed on the street in front of the house where the week long mourning period is held blocking the road?
Hi Pat, No I don't think you are alone. Here in upper Batinguel they even block the road with tents for birthday parties and what-not. We can get out of the sub on another road if we have to.
Have seen it several times in Valencia too. Not just blocking one side but the entire street. Have to go down a block and come around the other side.
It makes it kind of hard to respect their grieving when they can't even respect everyone else's right to get to their homes.
It is one of the more difficult customs for me to get over, not being mad but being a bit perplexed. Especially when a more 'respected' member of the community has passed and instead of an hour or two the street is closed for a week.
