I can only speak for my self, I have no problem pay 500 peso, that's what an ambulance cost, if a person need that. Of course, I understand not many people are willing to pay a hospital bill to a stranger, but for a friend, always. Where I come from, if you just pass by an accident where people need help, with out doing anything, you will get punished, maybe go to jail.
Oohh I forget, where I come from the also bring a doctor and equipment to save your life, even a helicopter if needed, and for free, lol. Why live in Philippines then ? Climate and girls are just great here,
I would say the same but I only have one experience to go by and in that instance the ambulance wanted to know where to take the patient and the one to call the ambulance had to go along to sign the patient into the hospital (Silliman) because you don't think the ambulance driver is gonna sign him in do ya? The one who signs him in pays and its useless to take him to the hospital unless someone is with him to pay. Now that I have that off my chest I would guess that a call to 911 to say there is an unconscious person laying on the floor and I don't know him and I'm late for my root canal appointment so I cannot give my name or wait around "might" work. But I would not bet my rent on it. Now if the unconscious guy has money and credit cards in his wallet and looks like a rich Kano then the ambulance and hospital are going to take a chance on him. I know that because someone got MikeB to hospital when he was in an accident and had no one around who knew him. Cost him a fortune but he is alive and well and visiting this forum from time to time so occasionally the system works. Hi Mike
It's our choice to live in 3. world country, and sometimes we meet a reality, we are not used to. I have phone numbers in my wallet and of course in my phone. It's scary to think what will happen to you, if you end up unconscious in an accident, hope you are lucky and meet right people. I know and seen foreigner run away from accident where people are injured, try it my self. I understand why they run, I'm no saint, but will always stop and do what I can,to help a person who can't take care of them self. I will follow to hospital, I don't say I sign to pay hospital bill, but will try find out if there are a family or friends around, who can take care. Hospital can't force you to sign or pay. I can live with my self after, I know I did my best
Some deserved negative comments here about certain guests and their behaviour .... but it is very noticeable how many postings on this thread are from very decent human beings .... important to remember that the bad ones are just a minority.
We have several Why Not bar/restaurants here in Vietnam where I stay and they ALL are places you shouldn't come ever. Fights, rude staff, drugs, awful asian style music, drunk cheap chicks. Just hate this name WHY NOT.
