Got a message from an admin of a Dumaguete based bid and sell facebook page, that some kids in Tayasan are badly maltreated and was requesting help. After thinking what we can do, did my wife send message to me, that the kids are the ones of her aunt. That was a huge hit for me.

Now the question is, how and where to organize help for them?
Someone suggested the DSWD, other the police while other the barangay captain.

Depends on how they are being mistreated and who is doing the mistreating.

Are we talking sexual, physical or verbal type of abuse here.

Careful throwing the family under the bus publicly. Even if they are sacks full of sh*t and guilty of the accusations it can lead to serious repercussions for you and your wife later down the road.

You might want to consider the source of the information as well. Some have no issue posting complete bullshit about people they want to settle a score with.... especially on that bid for me page on Facebook. It is completely unmoderated. Might want to make sure this isn't the case before you go on a witch hunt.

In that site there is an admin caring quite well. Evidence is available with pics taken from the bruises and scars. It's about physical mistreatment.
The source of the pics and probably being witnesses of the case was the mother of my wife. A very trustworthy woman.
I checked the sources before posting this here.

If you believe the stuff posted then I would recommend contacting the Barangay Captain first and then moving on to the DSWD. Cover all your steps and don't make accusations public.

Is DSWD available in every municipality?

Ouch! My wife is not happy with the DSWD in the area. Completely corrupt.

Edit: She told me to search a very cheap house/appartment for rent. Can even be a nipa hut. It can be anywhere in NegOr.

The mothers sisters and brothers was maltreating the kids while the kids mother was at work.

Child Protection has a long way to go in the Phils (Obvs statement) but I very much believe that there are on the ball up to speed public officials dotted about our neighbourhoods. The advice here is sound imo, but do not count out making a report at the local Pulis station, most have women protection officers and desks. A quiet report or statement can do no harm. The welfare of children is paramount and always comes first. Please do not be afraid of making the report or enquiry...most folks are decent and I'll bet my pension that your reputation will be enhanced if you make the move based on concern not rivalry/tsimis/spite - which I am sure is not the case.

    Cheers,

    C

It seems that the DSWD is the correct, legal agency to handle maltreated children. Any other method of dealing with it seems to be attempting to "beat the system" and could backfire. Its not going to be pretty. By getting involved in that you may be instrumental in having the kids removed from their home and placed in the DSWD which is the correct and legal thing to do in Philippines. If that's not what you want then best stay out of it.

To clarify it: The mother of the kids is not the culprit. It is not the meaning to displace the kids without her mother. It is meant to move the mother with the kids together out of the reach of the bad relatives. The mom of the mother will/want to move with them so that the mother can still go working to earn money for them.

Your wife's feelings about the DSWD mean little. Corrupt doesn't mean useless. It means you have to pay them to get off their @ss to do something. Use this to your advantage.

If the culprits work for the DSWD or have strong connections to the organization....then you have a problem, but still could be dealt with. Remember that you are in the Philippines, in their culture money talks. If someone working for the DSWD is participating in the abuse of children or are allowing someone else to do it you should go to the Ombudsman.
