I was planning to get my 13A in Holland, advised by the BI in DGT. So i would not get a 1 year first, but get the permanent visa right away, she said.

So I called the embassy in the Hague to hear I wil only get a 1 year first and i need to do all the medical tests in Holland.

Since I hear they never ask for the medical result when you apply in cebu (right?) i think i will just apply here. When we come back i will get a Balik Bayan visa so i have one year to get the 13A. This way i will not get the medical test in Holland, saves a lot of euro and i don't see any advantages doing it in Holland.

    Or do I miss something?

Im pretty sure you need to be here for 6 months to avoid the medical stuff.
Unless you use an agency it will take several trips to cebu and overnight stays also which all add up. If as you say you get the balikbayan youve got a while to sort it out.

When getting a 13a overseas at an embassy, you will come to the Philippines with a 13a and finalize the paperwork in Manila for your permanent 13a.

When getting a 13a within the Philippines, you first recieve a one year 'probationary' visa, then have to reapply AND repay before the end of that year. After submitting and paying twice, You then recieve a permanent 13a.

Does anybody know how much you need to pay for the 13a here (and then twice?) And how about the medical tests done in Holland or to compare some other western country?
I am regularly in Cebu so do not mind the trips going there. I prefer not to stay in Manila on the way back finalize the paperwork.

But if its just cheaper to get the 13A in Holland I might do the paperwork in Manila...

I have not done it personally yet. Going to move to the States in a few years, stay for 5 years and I will get my 13a before we come back then. The paperwork and the fees are the same each time so getting a 13a in the Phils is double the price and double the paperwork. Search the site for other threads about it, I believe 2 guys have posted in the last year about arriving here with the 13a and it required only a couple days in Manilla to finalize, after which they were permanent 13a, only required to do the annual reporting and keeping their ACR card up to date.

Just got back from BoI in Cebu, cost 8, 600 pesos or there about, Did not need a medical. been the Fils since Jan 23. I'm on a BB at the moment. Make sure you read the forms, important you follow the instructions. If I had the chance to do it in my own country I would do it. Good luck.
oh that's for the temporary 12 month, need to apply for the 5 year permanent before that runs out, another 8,600 pesos

Thank for the details! Why would you do it in your own country, to avoid the trips to Cebu? Or is the whole process to irritating

Since i have to be in Cebu like every 2 or 3 months anyway i hope to schedule the BI visit and combine it so that's not a big deal. If I do it in Holland i have to visit the hague, i cant do it in Amsterdam.

Supposed to be easier in your own country! Just one visit to your own Capital city. But if your visiting Cebu often then maybe it's the best choices for you.

If you read back I quoted the costs in total but I used an Agent and that also included the flights from Dumaguete to Cebu and Hotel stay... I found it MUCH EASIER to use the Agent (in the Travel Agency next door to Dumaguete BOI) due to the amount of times Forms changed and I had to go back in and fill in new Forms, one time I had to do it it 3 times! The Forms I gave to them filled in were out of date and had been updated, so I filled in the newer Forms only to be called in the very next day to fill in the NEWEST Forms due to a change in Office (Welcome to the Philippines!) so had I done it I would have failed at least twice on my own instead of using the Agent who is up to the minute updated on any changes, she also told me I had no need for Medicals (applying here) and despite what it says online, she was 100% correct! They are not 'Fixers' but instead Agents who use an Authorized Agent in Cebu to do all of the running around on your behalf meaning only 2 Trips instead of (I am told) 4 or 5 Trips of you do it all yourself...

When my ex-BIL went home from Cebu via Singapore to Australia, they picked him up on the Thermal imaging in Singapore, he was taken away with armed Guards and questioned extensively before being taken to a Hospital and X-Rayed, as they believed he was a Drug Mule and thought that one of the baggies had popped due to his excessive sweating, he just had a severe case of Delhi Belly from drinking the water in Cebu! lol

I'm doing it myself Brian, they must have streamed-lined the process. So far I only paid for the bus, 260 both ways. Hotel 3 nights 1300 x3. stayed over in Cebu because I had to go back to BOI in 2 days time for finger prints and photo, 8,600 for the 13A.

Told to come back in about 3 months if successful. :cautious:
