One food I enjoyed while living in Dumaguete, and I miss now, is Leylam Shawarma Rice. I would watch as they made it and knew I could easily make it, but I never knew what the spices and sauces were. Does anyone have any insight as to how they season the meat and what the sauces are (mayonnaise, oil, hot sauce?)
Not trying to be a smart*ss - but how close do the recipes on a Google search get you? It appears there are a few. I haven't had their rice before, so I can't compare. "leylam+shawarma+rice+recipe"
I have looked at those, but most of those hits are just reviews, and the shawarma recipes I have found seem to be other types with other ingredients. Thanks, though!!
Most of the time when I eat at one of these places, I go to the food court in Robinson's mall. I believe Lee Plaza has one but I don't recall if it's a booth next to the Pharmacy downstairs or if they are in the food court. I usually go with a wrap and I don't notice a difference between locations.
There is a small Shawarma Booth in the Food Court at Hypermaret, so far *touch wood* the food has been nice there, try the Halo-Halo from the other end next to the Bread area, BEST (tasty) Halo-Halo I have ever had here!
I tried it at Lee Plaza today, just in front of the Food Supermarket, and was impressed. I am NOT a fan of rice at all but found this (at P70) slightly spicy version, with cheese (extra P10), very palatable.
Brian, I am beginning to suspect you have shares in the Halo-Halo stall in the Hypermart But I think based on your (regular! ) reviews, it is worth trying.
