    My teachers tried and tried but alas I did not do well in english. I was more of a physics/math guy.
    Some of our history lessons remain in my brain like the war of 1812. As I recall the Brits and Canucks chased the Yanks down to their Mason-Dixon line and on their way home they burned the White House. In retrospect that was a little harsh and antagonistic. Maybe we should have just painted it grey.

    I asked about adding a Debit Card and was told I cannot do that, I will need to open a new account then link a 'Card' to that account so that I can use the card with my PayPal. As I understand it; I will need to gain a Mastercard/Visa Card to do this. Will try and see if I can do it later this month when I go back to the BPI Bank to try and find a way to add money to my PayPal account here in the Philippines as it is a PITA! :banghead:

    Okay after jumping through all of the hoops here with PayPal, I have found out that;

    PAYPAL DOES NOT WORK IN THE PHILIPPINES!

    I could not upload to my PayPal using my Australian Bank Account like I use to do, I was told by PayPal that my Aussie PayPal will not work here in the Philippines, and that I needed to close my Australian PayPal Account and open a new Account here in the Philippines;
    Did that!

    Once I had opened my Philippines PayPal Account, I linked my Philippines Bank Account to it as I did back in Australia, but it was impossible to upload to my new Account;
    Did NOT work!

    I was told I needed to open a Bank Account specifically for PayPal and using their special codes etc, I did that and again linked the new Account to my Philippines PayPal;
    Did NOT work!

    So again back to PayPal, who informed me I cannot upload money from my Bank Account here, I needed to link a MasterCard to my Bank Account then use that to upload funds;
    Did NOT work!

    Was told I needed to verify my MasterCard with PayPal, okay, do that and verify that they had put money into my Account then withdrawn it;
    Did NOT work!

    Back to PayPal who AGAIN (EVERY reply they did this to me!) linked me to “How to Withdraw Funds from PayPal” instead of "HOW TO UPLOAD MONEY TO MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT IN THE PHILIPPINES" and I lost the plot and sent an abusive reply asking them HOW do I withdraw money when I CANNOT Upload any money to their STUPID Service!! (Not as nice as that I may add!) And this was their reply; (So bottom line is use Lazada and SCREW PayPal!)

    Dear Brian,

    I hope you're doing fine. I am John from PayPal International Customer Solutions and I would like to help you today with you funding choices.

    I am glad I got your email and I would be more than happy to help you out.

    As of the moment adding funds from a bank to your PayPal account is not a possible option yet. If you want to make purchases you can use either a debit, credit or prepaid card on your PayPal account.

    VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover cards are the selection of cards you can use on your PayPal account.

    Adding funds or making a payment directly from a bank is not yet possible due to Philippine country laws and regulations. When PayPal offered their service to Philippines, your country agreed only to link any bank for withdrawals, PayPal only has to comply.

    Philippine PayPal accounts is limited to make payment and purchases only from their balance of card. On the bright side, we’re constantly working towards expanding our service to include this feature since it would be beneficial for both of us to offer this to you. We are doing our best to make this feature available in the near future.

    When additional features are made available you’ll be the first to know. All updated information regarding country capabilities to send and receive funds is on our website. Check it out by visiting https://www.paypal.com and clicking the flag icon at the bottom right corner of the home page.

    It's a pleasure to know that my response would be a big help for your problems with your funding choices. We appreciate your efforts just to bring this concern to our attention and we thank you for letting us help you with this issue.

    Sincerely,
    John

    You cannot do that here. Sorry. You have to link to a card.

    Sounds like it is a Philippines regulatory issue, not a PayPal one. You should not have to close your Australian PayPal account. You can have more than one PayPal account so long as you are using different emails and linking different cards/bank accounts.

    Try this link - https://www.paypal.com/welcome/signup/#/email_password - to sign up for an Australian account again. You have to pay attention to the flag at the bottom of the page. If it is showing the Philippines flag click that and select the Australian one.

    I have a US PayPal account and two Philippine PayPal accounts (you don't have to verify your second account until you go to add a card or bank account....unless you or someone with your name has a history of screwing PayPal/sellers over with fraudulent transactions/contesting a lot of transactions. If a website, or PayPal, won't allow me to buy something on a Philippine website with my US account because of "it's more fun in the Philippines" reasons, then I can send money to either of my Philippine PayPal accounts and make the purchase. I prefer PayPal because I am very reluctant to hand any Filipino business my credit card information. I know how much of a joke online security is in the US with many companies.....the Philippines has absolutely no chance of getting any trust from me.

    I would be interested how you do that as my Philippine PayPal only works when linked to a credit card and/or bank account OR when someone sends me money from another PayPal account. Are you suggesting that you send money to your Philippine PayPal account from your US PayPal account as a "gift" to yourself? Good plan. I suppose our interested members could do the same from their Australian PayPal account to their Philippine PayPal account. Wonder what the fees are to send yourself a "gift"? I am sure its not free.

    There are a couple different options to send money to a Philippine PayPal account. The last time I did it I sent my US PayPal an invoice for "Professional Services" from my Philippine PayPal account. I don't remember what the fees were, why I chose that option over the other ones or if there was any difference in the fees for doing it that way. (There must have been some reason why I did it like that. :bored:)

    BTW: I've learned to NEVER leave a balance on my PayPal account, especially on a seller account. If anything ever gets contested PayPal locks the account and doesn't let you move it to a bank account....and in my case, they never released the funds. The only way you will get the money back in a situation like that is if you join in on one of many class-action lawsuits against PayPal....and there are many of them.

    When I send money to my Philippines PayPal it is for the exact amount of the item I need to purchase. (Note: You have to take into account the transaction and currency exchange fees to get that right.)

    Never sell anything to people you don't know in the Philippines using PayPal, especially intangible items. Once the sh*t-heads have their intangible item (such as mobile load) they will contest the purchase and say they never received it, then PayPal will require you to prove they received it...which you simply cannot do (in my case I needed Globe to verify the mobile number received the load :meh:). And then they have the nerve to try and come back and order more load from you. :mad:

    Edit: Another way PayPal makes money is by customers keeping a balance on their PayPal account. They make interest off the money in your account (and they certainly don't share it with you).

    Whenever I get excited about something Elon Musk is doing with SpaceX I always get reeled back by remembering that he was the founder of PayPal (along with their shady and unethical business practices).

    I preferred PayPal also mate.

    I clearly asked them HOW I can UPLOAD Money to my Account from my Philippines Bank Account to my PayPal Account which worked fine in Australia but each and almost every time I was directed to "How to Withdraw your money from PayPal...

    I followed all of their instructions given to me after each message trying to make that possible. So; WHY could they NOT tell me on my FIRST message to them that it is not possible to upload funds to a Philippines PayPal Account in the Philippines (or elsewhere in the world) instead of giving me the run around which has taken close to TWO Years to date, to actually get a reply that states the obvious. YOU CAN'T!

    But now the problem is;
    *My Australian Pension is paid directly into my Philippines Bank Account...
    *I do not have any money in my Australian Bank Account... (As well the Online Security features means I need to be in Australia to access my Accounts online)
    *If I transfer money from my Philippines Account to my Australian Account (IF THAT is even possible) then the Transfer Fees will no doubt kill me!
    *I CAN use eBay (using my MasterCard) but NOT PayPal... I WANT to use PayPal via online to PAY people as I once did!

    So, I realise now obviously like Telstra, who refused to be bent over the Table during discussions on opening up shop here, PayPal no doubt experienced a similar meeting and decided against dealing with the BS involved here. The Government here no doubt also holds a stake in Lazada where they prefer you to use over that evil entity from the Devil's own country, unable to wring a dollar out of PayPal they refuse them entry to the Game, or maybe PayPal were smart enough not to get screwed... I think that best sums things up.

    So bottom line; unless you have access to being able to deposit money into your (>insert countries<) Bank Account while you are here in the Philippines, PayPal is useless to you here, so; DO NOT even bother opening a Philippines PayPal Account and jumping through all of their hoops like I had to do, only to find out you CANNOT USE IT unless you are withdrawing money only!
