Checking noise level is an important thing when looking for a nice living place. A good looking house is less value if there is lot of noises around it.

I distinctly remember being at Robinson's Mall and the noise there was so loud, especially when they had events going on in the center, that we could not carry on conversations in the restaurants inside the mall. The bass of the music would be so loud it would cause me to have palpitations. I see no reason whatsoever for them to have that level of noise. The Philippines, with their jeepneys, pedicabs, unmuffled scooters, karaoke, etc....is just a very noisy place.

Depends on the location. I found several locations on the Philippines being surprising quiet. This even in the middle of Cebu City and in Manila. Siquijor was very quiet also.

Different kind of noise, but it hasn't happened only once that I had to leave a restaurant / bar due to the live music's volume. I'm using headphones for years now when working and have had my fair share of club visits as well so one would think my ears are used to it but sometimes it simply hurts and I wonder if everyone around me is simply deaf...
