Hi All, I've been traveling to Philippines for the past 6 years approx. 3-5 times per year...26 trips in all. I finally made the choice to make the retirement move to Phils, coming to Dumaguete with my eye on Valencia or Bacong areas but who knows? I'm new. I like to travel abroad, workout, yoga, surf and of course sleep! I'll be looking for surf partners wanting to travel to the best surf spots in the Philippines!
Welcome to the forum. I am only aware of one decent area to surf in the Philippines (Surigao). I'm sure there are others but I don't think the Philippines is a top destination for surfing. What is your experience with surfing in the Philippines?
Graci'as for the welcome, kind words and the info on Surigao. I've actually surfed Surigao and a few other spots in Phils (Cataduanes, La Union, Baler) always willing to listen and learn from people in the know such as those here on the board.
Welcome to the Forum, may not be too far behind you as far as early retirement. Don't surf myself as diving over powers the urge. Hope you find the waves you seek.
Hi all I’ll be coming to Dumaguete from the State’s next week, I’m asking for suggestions on what to bring along with a Positive good natured attitude. All serious and comedy suggestions happily accepted
Leave your Western expectations in storage back in the US and you will be perfectly content just bringing some clothes that fit and yourself. If you are under 6' and 200lbs you really don't even need to bring a lot of cloths. You don't need to bring anything for that.
Things you might not find easily here, 1. good quality t shirts, shorts 2. if you use Ibuprofen, or any over the counter then stock up there as the quality here is dubious at best 3. Toiletries ... see number 2 4. Selection and quality of electronics are poor... maybe upgrade your phone and laptop there just my list if I had to do over... Welcome to Duma
