Sorry, I have never been to another Ludwig's in Valencia town. Perhaps the bakeshop-cum-snack bar I found in Barangay Bagacay is a branch that sells fresh-baked, not frozen, breads in cheesecloth-lined baskets. I also gathered that day-old breads, if any, are sold as toasted slices.
I also was not impressed, probably over a year ago now, with buying bread they were keeping in the freezer in Valencia. Never bothered going back after that, even though I can walk there in just a few minutes now.
Although I use reading glasses, I am sure my two eyes saw fresh-baked breads at Ludwig's German Bread in Bagacay, not frozen baked bread like in the Ludwig's at Valencia that was this thread's original subject. If the two are one and the same, perhaps the new bakeshop-cum-snackbar is an improvement of the original bakery? So why not check out Ludwig's in Bagacay next time you shop at Lee Plaza Hypermart?
If it is fresh like you say I just might do that. I will also ask what the deal is with frozen in Valencia.
I've bought bread from both outlets. They don't bake everything fresh every day. I buy whatever is fresh in that location on that day. If there's nothing fresh that I like I maybe try the French baker at Octagon. The shrink wrapped loaves are OK if you take them home and stick them in the oven for 10 minutes. I won't buy the frozen ones.
They also sell sugar free peanut butter !! really excellent I must say. If you want an alternative then head to the French Bakery next to Octagon in Bacong.. I can vouch for the whole wheat and the sandwich loaf of Baguette bread which is really good toasted
Yip, that's the location except that the site for M&M Kaluan is now occupied by Ludwig's German Bread.
Yes, there were jars of peanut butter at Ludwig's in Bagacay but I ignored them because these were supposed to be goods consigned from Valencia -- from Ludwig's in Valencia, maybe? If sugar-free, do you mean sugarless or sweetened with Aspartame or like unnatural substance?
Peanut butter with nothing but peanuts... just the way I like it and very hard to find in the Phil ... highly recommend and BTW thanks as I did not know about Ludwig's in Bagacay so now I do not have to drive all the way to Valencia for my Peanut Butter
