To save my car and my nerves where can I get driving lessons here in Dumaguete that members can recommend based on getting their wives or girl friends taught to be safe drivers? I have heard of Globallinks Driving school anyone know how much they charge as believe they are not cheap! Are there any other driving schools or instructors? I drive an automatic and it would be easier for her to learn in an automatic rather than manual gears. But suspect the driving schools and instructors here will only have manual cars. Mike
Safe driving in Philippines...NO WAY.....personally I think you need to have learnt outside Philippines. There is only one standard here down right DANGEROUS.
Yes very much so Wrye except the thread was 2014 and was wondering if anyone had more recent experience or info. particularily of alternative instructors to Global link. Re Globalinks I think I will call into their place and find out the latest prices and if they now have an automatic car as well as manual..... probably not!
I understand that ! but to learn properly.....with safety a prime consideration, scary, scary, I wish you all the best. Hopefully you yourself can impart some useful knowledge. Positioning on the road and the meaning of Orange Lines plus use of mirror and indicators etc etc etc !!!
Thanks Tim your absolutely right it is scary learning to drive here but she is determined to drive. I will give her all the knowlege I can. I prefer it to be in an instructors car not mine until she learns to drive ok in this madhouse! Cheers
They have manual & automatic cars available; when I checked with them a few weeks ago the price for an automatic was 8,800php including a one day orientation and 10 hours of on the road driving. I believe the manual was cheaper but not sure on the price.
why bother to learn nobody else did there are no road rules when I drive there I am ashamed of myself because it is every man woman and child for himself, you give nothing and you get nothing, you drive like the road is only for you if a indicator is on it is only by mistake, you don't need lights if you don't want any and God help you if you hit anybody as a long nose you will PAY
Don't knock learning - every one that learns some rules is (hopefully) one less to worry about. And, actually, when driving through Dumaguete I find that there is quite a bit of 'give and take' at the junctions. if you want to see pure bloody minded stupidity in action, take a trip to Lagos, Nigeria. It's mind boggling.
