Halalhippie is not a muslim, it's a person who misunderstands or are very naive to other cultures, and are afraid to tell they don't agree with everything in other cultures
Hmmm, really. If so one would at least expect honorable mention of this definition in the Urban Dictionary but alas, nothing of the sort. However I do have a cite suggesting it is related to modern Islamic culture: The Halal Hippie Not sure what is meant about being afraid to tell they don’t agree with everything in other cultures. There are plenty of other-cultural practices I disagree with such as the fundamentalist Islamic stoning if brides who are thought to not be virgins on their wedding nights, Semitic avoidance of pork, canibalism...lots of things and I don’t even resemble a hippie Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It is fun at times to see a thread change so much ... a bit like a 'Chinese whisper'. We have gone from problems in a supermarket, via parking tickets to Islam. I know it is not allowed but it does lighten the day. But, as I NEVER go off-topic ( ), back to the subject: I think the criterion for foreigners to use 'senior lanes' is if we are seniors AND we feel the need to, through ill-health or age-related fatigue. In all things, accept that this is not our country, we are not citizens, and so stand back if an actual citizen can benefit first. Now, on the subject of 'Halal hippies' .........
Since that was part of my rant, let me address that. On the "Anti-Foreigner-Day" the check out aisles were not extremely busy. Probably a line up of 2 customers at each register. (Sometimes when not busy the clerks take their time and chat and checking through 2 customers can take 10 minutes so I looked around). The senior's line had one person paying (local lady, probably in her 40s) and the basket lane had the same. I did not have much to pay for, (same as the others checking out in these lanes) but I had more than 10 items. So is it not "Anti-Foreigner" to turn away a 63 year old foreigner and allow a 40 year old local lady to use the Senior Citizens Lane? Seems that way to me. Is it not "Anti-Foreigner to let a similar local take a cart through the basket land with the same amount as the foreign who is right behind her (and should have been in front but she was "pushier" than I am). Hmm. I see very few other alternatives. Perhaps it was just Anti-Dave day? But as I said I have had few if any problems there on other shopping days. Was it just Friday the 13th and I looked like that guy in the hockey mask. . . Jason?
I agree with you, I always do my best to follow the rules here in the Philippines and other countries I visit. It doesn't mean I agree with the rules, and we are on a forum where we discuss rules and opinions, so what's wrong in give our opinion on the topic? I wonder why immigrants in my country are part of the population and here we are guests. I consider myself as a guest, because I'm treated as a guest here, and not as a part of the population, even after 7 years in the country. I don't mean this is off topic when we talk senior lane. Honestly, I don't bother about senior lane or that kind of small things in life, I smile and let people go in front of me in the line, if not in the mood I send my gf lol
As I do. And I would NEVER treat a guest in my house or in my country the way I was treated on "rant day". Perhaps some people treat their guests poorly? Such people are unlikely to get many guests.
