You appear to be speaking of personal gifts and I was speaking of gifts in a broader sense. Most of what I give to others outside my family is done anonymously. I therefore have no knowledge of how the gift was received nor does it matter. You say that all things are done with a personal motive and that is probably true but a personal motive does not always have to mean something is done for personal profit, such as self gratification. The personal motive can be that something is just right to do.
I like so much that the Filipinos are so connected with music, so like to dance and sing. Even the sellers sing and the cashiers sing sometimes.
Was in the PAL Lounge at NAIA 2 on Saturday. Some gentleman had gotten up and his wallet and cellphone had fallen out of his pocket onto the seat. He had left to go someplace. A PAL employee saw it and asked around if anyone knew who the owner was or where they were. One person pointed out the fathers daughter. The employee collected the items and asked the girl if they were her Dad's. She said they were and immediately got him, then made a little fun of him. Good things do happen.
In no specific order, a couple things off the top of my head: The weather...especially Negros as we seem to miss the destructiveness of the typhoons. Cost of living; can be relatively cheap depending upon your lifestyle. The fact most locals speak English; makes getting around/shopping/etc. much easier. Shawn
I like, what you wrote, but as here are so many nationalities, I would like it, if no abbreviations would be used. I agree, but if you like to eat different cheeses and sausages and like to drink "Extra Dry or Sec or Brut wines or sparkling wines" it is really more expensive, than in Europe.
PAL - Philippines Air Lines NAIA - Ninoy Aquino International Airport - Manila's international airport (aka MNL) AKA - also known as. The number after NAIA (1, 2, 3 or 4) is going to be the terminal. These are quite common acronyms for the Philippines. Worth learning them.
Imported goods will cost We have the choice of Paying for what we really want or go without, I say without as you quite rightly Hint at, there is no decent Alternative
What I love so much also in the Philippines is, that the young beautiful Filipinas always have a smile for you, even if you are old and not good-looking. This happens rarely in Western Countries.
Friends and family grill you with questions if you look unhappy and do something to get that smile back. I missed that, can’t wait to go home.
