As the crow flies Santander to Cebu pier is about 70 miles, so the boat needs to average 35 miles an hour if it's going to take two hours! Do boats go that fast I wonder?
I am not sure but the article says you can go from Cebu to Santander for 100 pesos. Considering the 20 minute trip from Santander to Sibulan is 72 pesos that 100 sounds incredibly cheap. Literally incredible.
How far is it from Cebu to Santander? A bus ride from DGTE to Tayasan (about 100 km) costs around 100 pesos also. (In switzerland with that amount you could not even ride with the bus to the next bus stop 400 m away.)
I'm very curious on how this goes (if it does). They really need a better option then the yellow doom bus. As for cost at 100p it seems a bit cheap but they know as well that much more won't do very well just as fastcrafts between Dumaguete and Cebu have struggled and gone under (figuratively). as they were a bit expensive for most locals even compared to overnight ferries. However one has to know the price of a Ceres from Santander to Cebu to compare a bit better. The ferry cost of Ceres is of course part of the cost and likely at least 10-15%. If I can recall poorly my recent Dumaguete to Cebu aircon bus was 205p from Santander-Cebu. Minus the aircon and the extra cost for the bus needing to be ferried and likely less petrol used on the sea bus 100p may be reasonable to go with. However until I can ride it I'll keep thinking it as that upcoming new sea pedestrian walk from to Cebu and that fabled Bacong international airport. Dont forget that Burger King and SM Mall on the horizon as well.
I think hell will freeze over / don't hold your breath... etc.... Even the airport in Bacong is having problems with "land acquisition," according to the metropost (duh....)... The ferry sounds like a better possibility....
We came back from a short trip to Manila on Wed using PAL. I asked the stewardesses about a new Bacong airport and they never heard of it. It could be an exercise in media speculation that has no basis in reality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
