I'd be fine with it myself if we as consumers were allowed to go after them directly for water loss, low pressure, and failure to keep water within safety perameters.

I've seen dirt in my water many times because the city water instead of fixing a leak comes around with rubber bands and just wraps it around the whole which still allows dirt and every other unfiltered disease and bacteria in and considering these water lines often travel the same route tons of people p*ss at... yah.

I've reported many leaks some very major that have been ignored for ages and all that water loss they don't care about as they just cover it with increases and extra charges in our water bills.

I've reported horribly low water pressure where it would literally take half an hour to fill a normal bucket because they don't fix and improve their systems which many of the times isn't about increasing capacity but instead about decreasing loss.

I'd be betting if laws were in place to allow consumers to go after the *private* utilities like this they would be bankrupt in a week and begging to sell it back to the public at a loss.

Personally though I'd also love to see all the huge water consuming business's removed from the public lines. All of these water filling stations ever block sometimes really cut down the pressure for others and they even use suction mechanism's to suck more water to them which damages the lines as well as treating home users poorly. Such sort of business's should be required to install deep wells and get their own water. I wouldn't mind personally getting 3 bottled for 100p instead of 5 which I currently get.

 

Yup, sadly. Just be nice to be able to stick it to them for a change.

 

Maybe these guys are somewhat analogous to corporate raiders who come in and try to make the company more efficient/profitable.

It sounds like the reason for privatization is because it brings money to the table to upgrade the system that you are complaining about. I assume someone has to pay for that and it's probably the water user. Would you rather have a better water system and pay more or keep what you have?

The other question is do you believe government or private industry can do a better job?

 

The private company wants our money and the public don't care at all. Elections haha, here the locals get 50 pesos each today, to vote for the right person, funny world

The article said they would be responsible to modernize the waste management system. Is there actually a waste management system now? I've never heard of any.
