Here is a review by a friend about the German Embassy Manila in a public letter to President Duterte.

What is your experience with Visitor Visas and Family Reunion Visas applied by Filipinos to see your country?

Why is he writing Duterte about German immigration laws and practices? He can do nothing about German immigration law and he has no say over their Embassy (other than if it is allowed to even be there).

There is also a reason why potential Filipino immigrants are so heavily scrutinized. They are coming from a pretty lawless country and have a high propensity towards violence at the slightest transgression. Most also do not have the financial ability to support themselves while traveling to any European country (and many have absolutely no idea how much it actually costs in the West). The chances of a Filipino needing to be taken care of by the taxpayer of the country they are visiting is very high in the likelihood that they overstay their visa or apply for political asylum.

There is also good reason for embassies to be skeptical of documents from the Philippine government. It is very cheap to have any document changed to something more favorable for immigration purposes. Corruption is massive in the Philippines and you only have to ask around a bit to find someone who knows someone who can change anything on your paperwork.

This letter is much more likely to make Philippine visas for German/Western expats much harder to obtain or maintain than it is to change anything about German immigration law since the only thing Duterte can do is change up Philippine immigration law. This guy is playing with fire by writing Duterte about such things. Not a very well thought out plan.

High Wrye I do not like his last words neither, but.........
I think it is only a bad translation, in the German letter he only said : "chase away...to hell".
He is so immense angry because the German Embassy did not accept the paternity recognition what is due to him legally.

The so-called Schengen visa, what for example, is a visitor's visa for up to 3 months, is only issued if the visitor has enough income to survive several months, if he or she has a very good health insurance in Germany and if the inviting person has enough income in case of a cases. According to paragraphs 66 to 68 of the German Immigration Act the inviting person must support this guest, if something unpredictable will happen.

And even, if all such security is provided, the German Embassy refuses those Visit Visas and even Family Reunification Visas are frequently denied in an unfair treatment.

If you would fall in love with a Filippina and invite her to visit you before you marry, so that she can experience your invironment and she is not allowed to do so, even if she fulfills all the conditions of the Schengen Law, you would talk differently. I am interested how the other embassies treat such visit requests.

Hi Wrye, I really do not understand, why you speak about "to murder people" the translation means a German saying like "chase to hell", this is said if you are very angry about people and has NOTHING absolutely nothing to do with "Murdering" or "Death".

Visas are like life .... not always fair. It seems in many countries they are the preserve of the wealthy and (although I know My W does not agree with this) they should be as much about humanity and the rights of people to live together. The argument is made that poor foreign people are a burden on any country they gain entry to but the wealthy crooks who buy 'Golden Visas' are even more of a scourge as they can destroy the fabric of the society they enter.

Even saying "chase them away" is very inconsiderate to other people who need the embassy's services. It's basically like saying "I didn't get my way so screw everyone else."

I understand that getting a Schengen visa can be difficult. Are we sure she submitted and met ALL the requirements? Or did this couple forget a few things?

It wasn't written in German. When you say the phrase "hunt these people" in English you aren't talking about a fun little chase around the block. You kill things you hunt...and putting it into context with everything that has been going on in the Philippines, the glowing review the man gave of Duterte's work and the very obvious anger shown in the message it is not a huge leap to think the guy is calling for the murder of the officials.

If you are going to write a letter to a head of state in a language that is not your first it is a REALLY good idea to have a native speaker proofread what you wrote....especially when the head of state is well known for not giving a crap about human rights and murdering people.

Why doesn't the guy just marry the girl? Problem solved.

Yeah, I don't think allowing poor unskilled labor in to a country all willy nilly is a good thing.

I do, of course, respect your opinion - but I am thinking more of spouses being denied. I would rather see a spouse enter and the couple struggle a bit than to have a wealthy crook corrupting society (apart from the drug trafficking, sex worker trafficking, money laundering, they actually cost ordinary people money by raising house prices).

I believe this couple was trying to get a Visa before getting married. But for some reason I think I remember it also mentioning something about visiting family. Maybe it was denied because they weren't getting their story straight. Is it a fiance visa or a visa to go meet family? They are two different things that have different requirements.

Personally, I think it is more than likely user error. Especially when they have such a short fuse.

It was about paternity recognition and there is the German law clearly in favor of the Child and the Mother-Filipina. If paternity is recognized, child and mother can come to Germany. But the German embassy bows the law and does not care about laws. They married later in Germany, because a marriage visa is just as hard to get from the German Embassy Manila as a Schengen Visitor-Visa for 1-3 months. I know a Filippina (35 years old), who was already 3 times in Germany with SchengenVisum in order to visit her sister and she always returned on time. Then she applied for the 4th time to visit her boyfriend (fiancé). That was rejected. The German Embassy Manila has a paranoid fear that the couple could marry in Denmark.
