    I would like to try diatomaceous earth to control ants, especially around our nipa hut. I was thinking of putting this around the base of the four bamboo posts so they can't crawl up and are killed. Has anyone had experience using diatomaceous earth and where can it be purchased in Dumaguete?

    DE powder is available at Polaris. They sell it by the 22kg sack for about 1600 pesos (more or less).
    I don't know if they will sell by the kilo.

    it's not duma but lazada has lot of DE options. let us know if it solves your ant problem.

    If you are coming from the capital region heading south take the road that bears right and runs past Rejoice Hardware.
    J Marketing is a small shop just before Rejoice. It's on the left side of the road.

    Got this from Wikipedia - were you aware?: In order to be effective as an insecticide, diatomaceous earth must be uncalcinated (i.e., it must not be heat-treated prior to application) and have a mean particle size below about 12 µm.
