:-) Thanks to you, too, for recommending their peanut butter as sugarless. I'll try a jar when I pick up the stollens. God bless you!

Ludwig's Valencia just expanded. They now have pleasant indoor and patio dining areas and a decent sized menu. Unfortunately (for me), no air conditioning. The new entrance (glass wall and doors) is next to the little stand where they were located and a bit back from the sidewalk. If you cruise past looking for the "old Ludwig's," you may think it is closed up. It's not. They serve breakfast, but don't open until late (9 or 10) on every day but Sunday....when they open at 6:30. They need a baker and assistant cook right now, and told me when they fill the positions they will open at 6:30 everyday for breakfast! What a concept: A restaurant that serves breakfast starting at breakfast time!

Well, just over a month after their expansion with new dining room and patio, Ludwig's is closed for renovations. Chubby Cheeks also closed for renovations. Oxmox also closed permanently as Oxmox, but supposedly being renovated to become a coffee shop. Sit-down restaurants are few enough in Valencia without having all of them renovate at the same time.

German bakery is not closed for renovation, just opened a brand new bakery with cafe. Something went wrong between the 2 owners. I'm a regular customer there or was, dark rye is to me what rice is for a Filipino. The girl who manages the store (own half) and bake the bread, gave me her phone number so I can order and she keeps the dark rye for me. She sells her bread in the Valencia market every Sunday now until she finds another place, that's what she told me when I get my dark rye at Valencia market today. I find the bread there of good quality and like the staff and "owner"

No customers, you can't run a business, most expats in Valencia sit or "hangs" at the red tables, few customers in Oxmox and I'm sure Coffe Grove will go the same way if not the owner sees it as a hobby to spend money at, I like Coffe Grove but can't see how they will make business/money there

Does anyone know here where you can buy a real German sourdough bread (rye-farmer's bread) in Valencia or Dumaguete?

I brought a Frankinstiner there yesterday, its a pretty heavy loaf, so much so it could have been used in a feild gun on the Western front.
