    Well if your country strives to be a socialist nanny state it makes sense. You have to make sure everyone is paying their taxes and has the ability to receive their "free" handouts (and not scam their way into getting more than they are entitled to). Can't have your cake and eat it too.

    The article states; for citizens and resident aliens. I guess that means BI card holders as well? Required to have both the ACR card and this national ID?

    National ID System Law enters into force on 25th August

    Manila - The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announced that the Act to Establish a National Identification System will enter into force on 25th August. - klajoo.com - The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) law was signed on August 6 by President Rodrigo Duterte, and was released in national newspapers on August 9, 15 days later. PSA chief Lisa Grace Bersales says the bill aims to harmonize, integrate and connect the countless and redundant government cards by introducing a national identification system. The Phil ID contains information such as the PhilSys number, full name, facial image, gender, date of birth, blood type and address. Implementing legislation will be finalized in September.
