I guess that it is also depend on the location where someone is searching. Ex: If you search "retire philippines" while staying in the Philippines then there could be more results than if you stay in Columbia. Anyway I guess that the Philippines is great to talk small stuff big.

I believe Google Trends is world-wide searches.

Also, I believe that a good portion of those queries are being done by locals from the country in question that are just trying to find information about retirement options specific to their country.

I don't care about other peoples opinion about where it's best to retire, give me some facts, then I make my own research and make my own opinion too

Perhaps their 'opinions' are 'facts' on which it is possible to narrow down the list of places and do deeper research on those. For example, if I was told that CdO is congested with traffic, fumy and smelly then I might not even bother to do any research on that city.

Certainly, I agree, no one should live somewhere solely based on another person's opinion.

As I was doing a research about the Traffic in Davao City. One person was telling me that the traffic is OK there. Another person was telling me that the traffic is terrible there. Ooook what is now correct? Probably it depends where they live in the city and to where they want to go.

Maybe I read to many "opinions" to separate "opinions" and facts. Generally, I feel too many people are negative in the way they look at life, not sure it's an expat "things" in the Philippines, maybe it's a western thing, lol. When I look at the poor Filipinos and their happiness there's a big contrast to the way we western look at life. I don't have the answer why it is that way, I still wonder and enjoy the Philippine culture/way of life, important reason that I still live here in the Philippines. I don't like pollution, so I live in a place with fresh air, just to the sea, I will try to avoid noise, special from traffic, so I find a place with only a little traffic and that's my point, find what you like and enjoy it. I really like to go city shopping and have fun sometimes, the pollution and noise are okay for a few days, my focus is on other "things", of course, I see the "sh*t" in the streets and hear the traffic noise everywhere but my focus is not there. I do not want to generalize, just point to a trend I see that many expats are negative about life in the Philippines. Of course, there is a need for improvements, we must only recognize the reality that we live in a 3. world country

I wonder how many are like me and didn’t know a thing about Dumaguete when I came here to go diving, met my fiance, found it was much cheaper rent than where I lived in Global City so we moved here 9 years ago.

Even my wife started to avoid Dumaguete. In 2016 she was was visiting her parents in Tayasan but she never was in Dumaguete. Even to get there she was doing the Cebu -Dumanjug - Guihulngan - Tayasan route just not to go over Dumaguete.

All the years I travelled the Philippines I was shure: If I ever move in the Philippines it will be CEBU, where I would like to live, cause its very central, nice Places like Moalboal, Bantayan. Malapascua....
Than I moved in the Philippines and in the first year (on CEBU) I had a very beautiful house, direkt on the waterline, private beach, two terraces (up and down) beautiful sundowns there - but that's it and after a while it started to get boring and there where too much efforts to shop all the nice things that you sometimes have to get and no chance to have social contacts to other interest people!
And than we found Dumaguete and we found everything we missed before: A huge offer of goods, food, Rastaurants and places to meet People, good Medicine support in Hospitals and Doctors, for any kind of medical problems, nice Beaches very close and the most important: Very friendly and happy people which give you the Impression to be very Welcome here, in Dumaguete!
And the bunch of foreign a..holes you can just ignore! :yuck:
