How do you know they are? The person making the accusation has the burden of proof.

But I'll play the game: I don't believe they are because the appointment system is online for anyone to use. Sure, there could be some DFA employees hording appointments to sell on the side...but if that were a common practice I believe you could just go into the DFA and slip P100 under the table to get an appointment. Since I have only heard of DFA employees turning people away and telling them they need to make an appointment online I don't believe them hording online appointments to be common practice.

It has not worked that way for years. (Too many cameras and too many people with phones that take pictures and recordings) You have to find out where they eat their lunch and slip the waitress 100 to direct you to the one she knows is corrupt :blackalien:

Have you personally used this method for getting an appointment with the DFA? Seems a bit convoluted for a DFA appointment scheme. I still find it more likely that these appointments are being bought up in mass by fixers/travel agencies.

How do we know that the individual running the system isn't running a game where he ties up the appointments and then sells them to some fixer? Fantasy...maybe??

Why would I need to go to the DFA? A couple of more appropriate questions would be: Do I know of any Filipinas who have used this method to get an appointment with the DFA OR Have I ever extrapolated that method to BI to get "special treatment" and I'll take the 5th on both questions. :blackalien:

You can't get into the DFA unless you have an appointment.
But wait maybe another P100 to the door security guard would solve that !

Well, good ol' fashioned corruption and bribery is always worth a try in the Philippines.

More than 3 years later and it looks like nothing has changed:

No dates, neither available nor taken. Yet the DFA still telling people to go online to book an appointment.

My gf set an appointment online a few months ago to get her passport. No issues then. Maybe since travel is starting to open back up people are anxious to get out of the Philippines?

Nah, my best guess is that demand is still subdued compared to pre-covid; it must be either a system breakdown or the dfa trying to force everyone to go through an agent (because it's the same wherever I look -Manila, Cebu, Bacolod, elsewhere), no dates available-.
