Its what we got here but its in no way even half decent. Just one of those sacrifices we make for being here. My point I guess as well is that considering how they have a super profitable setup here with such crap speeds no way they are going to all of a sudden start boosting average types when it will lower their profit margins.
Any update please on the best Internet service available locally. I have used Globe (15Mbps and 100Gb monthly usage) and sometimes it is good but has too many frustratingly low moments. I looked into SKY but, for example, (perhaps they are just being honest) they offer 8Mbps and then state the average to be 3.6Mbps with minimum speed of 0.6Mbps for 80% of the time.
Globe Tattoo LTE 1299 plan 10 Mb down and 2 Mb up with 50 GB cap works pretty well for me... I reg buy extra load of 150 GB for 599 so 1899 plus tax and my download is usually 1.2 MB so I get what I pay for most of the time... the nice part is that when you go out you can take your sim with a pocket wifi anywhere that you can hit a Globe tower ... I am in Valencia

I have found you can't get both "best" and "cheap" together. I rely on the internet a lot to maintain work collaboration with the US, and Globe was unusable for me. I now use a service called "airLink" and it has been great. I get 20Meg speed, unlimited usage, and great reliability. They need to install a tall mast on your property to put up their antenna, they did not charge me for this, but it may be necessary that you own your property. You can pay for the speed that you need, but it is not cheap compared to other services. I pay 4999 for my 20Meg unlimited service, but I think you can go down to as low as 5Meg. I am usually getting well over 20Meg speed, and in almost a year it has not gone down once (except for brown out). On a couple of days there have been issues with my speed, and when I contact them they are very responsive and fix it right away. Do you have access to Fil-Products there mate? If so I have to say I am very happy with them along with the Pay TV package. (2100php per month Internet and 400php per month TV) I can stream most videos or music online without much of a problem. Over night if I line up Torrents I can usually snag around 30+ Movies on a good run by the time I wake up. Some days can be a PITA while others go like greased lightning so I suppose it depends. Also when there are Blackouts in Zamboanguita my Internet connection will disappear along with the TV despite the power being on here, it is what it is. I am on 6Mbps Cable but there is also Fiber-Optic at a higher cost which I hear is pretty good.
I have PLDT home fibre, cable. 20Mbps unlimited. Really good had it about 3 months no problems. Oh and 1899 for the middle plan.
I think I read somewhere before where you wrote about what I guess were just initial hassles and having to phone them - it seems that is all fine now.
Here’s the underlying definition of the Fair Use Policy. “We are the two major carriers for internet in the Philippines. We are, in effect, a duopoly, so we don’t really have to follow any rules, including our own. We are consistently unprepared to meet the bandwidth needs of our customers and have no intention of making the financial investment to alleviate that situation. However, we are totally prepared to take everyone’s pesos even it results in our being so oversubscribed we could not possibly physically deliver to everyone who pays us that service which we promised. (Hence, our ads always say “Up To” XXX Mbps). So when we run short, we just underdeliver but never rebate.
Had this discussion last night.. "You get what you pay for." For those that need more, the PLDT home fibre NORMALLY runs 53mbps / 45 mbps, per speedtest.net, but then it's P2899.. Not available everywhere, curious if anyone has ever gotten neighbors together and successfully needled PLDT to run the fibre...???
