Had an interesting experience today at Lee Plaza. Went in, going to the hardware. As soon as I got in the power went out. I decided, since I had no idea how long it would last, to shop else where. Went to leave and was forbidden. They indicated that their little merchandise scanner at the door had no power too. I asked what if the brownout lasted for hours, then what? No response from the security or checker. An older employee said only a short time, till the generator came on. I guess Lee's believes that all of their customers are waiting inside until a brown out occurs in order to steal. That is what it boiled down to, they unconsciously or consciously, accused you of trying to steal from them since their detector was inoperable. Anyone else have this situation? Robinson's has no detectors at the entrance or exit and you are free to come and go. Terrible customer service.

Quite a few years back there was a similar post on here as the fire alarms went off in there and if i remember correctly there was a small fire somewhere in the store.
Same thing again guards would not let anyone out. Im pretty sure if that happen when i was in there the guard would be on the floor!

I was there too, funny enough was also in the hardware, honestly took it 30 sec.? I saw security guards did not allow people to leave, but 30 sec is okay to me if long time we have a serious problem for sure

What? They couldn't check your bags and pockets, like when you enter?? That's just crazy. If it were a fire, I am sorry, I would trample them going out the doors!!

This seems to be one of these things we have to accept here .... we are often considered to be potential thieves just by shopping!

But, on the upside, the very strict security helps to reduce losses and so keep prices down.

However, in a fire I think it prudent to just leave and deal with the security people afterwards - IF they are still alive.

Used to drive me crazy how the store reps follow you as you are walking around, as if they are trying to catch you stealing something. I had, at one time, asked a girl to please stop following me, that I wouldn't steal anything. Another time I just left the establishment.

My wife took our daughter when she was Around 4 years old. The wifey was busy shopping and suddenly noticed she was gone!. In her panic she found a guard and screeched "My Daughter is gone!". The guard immediately stopped anyone from entering or exiting the door until many staff took off running everywhere and found her in the toy section.

Is that not where you would first look for a child that had wondered off? I wouldn't be happy if I were stopped because a child wasn't being watched closely enough by their parents. I could understand if they were stopping people with children but it's not like I can fit a child in my back pocket.
