I will never trust any traffic light in the Philippines, I observe even foreigner start to drive like idiots, sorry to admit my self included, from time to time when you feel enough is enough. Dashcam is necessary today if you want a chance to prove anything in court
I remember before the Trike Strike a year or two ago prices were quite high. Ran into a girl pushing a motorcycle near the gas station that tried to pawn me her necklace for gas money. Didn't take the necklace as she seemed quite upset about having to pawn it so I had the attendant put P50 into her tank and considered it a donation. (She was very cute....and that act of kindness REALLY pissed off my gf who was on the back of my bike at the time. She didn't buy my story about "good karma". I believe her reply was, "BS! You are just trying to 'karma' your way into her p*ssy." Where is the Filipino stupidstition, err I mean "superstition", when you need it? lol)
Just a point of curiosity, not a correction. A few years ago I had dinner with an LTO that does that job for a living. He called himself a Traffic Conductor. True but. Fight the battles you can win & one problem at a time. It would nice if the money would go were it is needed most but if it gets the hard headed offenders off the road then I say do it. I admit I drive with an NFL football mentality. The best defense is a good offense. But if they took my vehicle I'd probably change.
you sure don't have any compassion for the less fortunate.. is this what they do where you are from..
It protects the lack of competition from outside competition. Keeps Filipinos paying Maserati prices for Chevrolet..
I don't think the poster was being nasty about unfortunate people but stating his view that certain infringements can be stopped only by tough penalties. I do not agree with the idea of crushing vehicles but giving fines which act as a deterrent is not necessarily a bad thing and the offender has the choice to obey the law or not - actions have consequences. "Is this what they do from where you are from" seems to be labelling all people from the poster's country to be thinking in the same way, which I am sure they do not. Some will agree with him, some will have stronger views and some lesser views. Anyway, in many countries traffic laws are even tougher and tough fines, prison sentences and destruction of vehicles is perhaps not as uncommon as you think.
throughout asia the thought is that the first one into an intersection has the right-of-way.. if you are a foreigner then you probably will be fined and held responsible under the assumption that if you had not of been there then the accident would not of happened... so it is your fault.. again, drive defensively and show compassion... you do not want to find yourself in the emergency room of a Philippine hospital.. especially here.. and remember, you are a foreigner...
