It would be interesting to know where in Cebu you lived - if near Cebu City then you would have had all or more of what you found in Dumaguete. So I suspect it was far from the city - in that case, can you compare it with Dumaguete? Although it is small, it is nevertheless a city, with the pollution and traffic that comes with it.

Obviously you found this small city to your taste and prefer it to your previous location but this may simply be because it is a city.

OK, the first 3 Months I lived in LapuLapu (Mactan) and after that 1 Year in Alcoy!
And Yes: I am not the type of Guy for the Province, my whole live I lived in Cities and the best 39 Years I had in a place that was big like Dumaguete and had the same Charme!

So you are city-boy at heart who went astray to the countryside (province) and now have found your comfort zone.

You seem content in Dumaguete and that's what counts. It is important to re-assess at times where we are and what we want - for most people it seems the answer remains the same: "I am happy where I am".

I was one of them just this year moved from Global City with my fiance! But we decided on Valencia where we believe the air is cleaner.

I have been here 4 years now and in that time I have watched my Brother In-law (who is a Tricycle Driver in Dumaguete) suffer continual sinus problems with a persistent cough that never goes away. I have never seen him without his rag, constantly blowing his nose, coughing or spitting up, it never ends. His older Brother also drove Tricycles for more than 10 years and was the same, but has spent the past two years in Manila as a Family Driver driving a Car. He recently visited back home and his health has improved greatly. Before, he was the same as his younger Brother with a cough and persistent runny nose. Now he is fine and says he will never go back to driving in Dumaguete! I know just the one day I spend in Dumaguete City each month has a similar effect on me with sinus/breathing problems, sticky throat, sore eyes and bad headache. Live there fulltime, NO THANK YOU! :grumpy:

I live in Zamboanguita (Maluay) and feel the same way regards the fresh air compared to the City. The more greenery that surrounds me the happier I am! :woot:

It will be good to meet other people settling in Dumaguete.

How long have you been in Dumaguete mate? There are plenty of guys here who meet up in groups at different places on a regular basis. I do try and catch up with a few, but it is usually only special occasions as I have no Car and live far from the City only getting in there once a month. Maybe if you posted up a Meet & Greet Day a few of the City regulars could suggest a place for you all to meet up.

About 2 months, first staying short term around Dauin and Zambo, then a few weeks in Valencia, and now I am in the city. So far I think Valencia/Dumaguete city limit would be my fav to settle. Not sure how to make a Meet and Greet post but any day suits me.

How to spoil a nice area? Advertise it as a destination that has to be visited and lived in. I remember Baguio in the 70's and 80's and Boracay in the 90's, now look at them, over run and highly urbanized. I just hope that doesn't happen here, or if they do begin to grow more, they have plans for the infrastructure to keep up with demand.

Sorry, I agree but too late. Pandorra’s Box has been open with perhaps questionable ratings and I see many new faces daily at the mall.
