Boer; I suspect that is what the wife just put over one of the Goats which was in heat, she said it was HUUUGE! *Fingers crossed*
From which country is the dead friend belonging? Because some countries have pensions available for the left behind family members. Let's see if there is something like that is available for them.
For those of you who have made a will, did you do a Philippine's one, or were you able to use the laws of the country you came from?
I have two wills, within each acknowledging the other will, basically saying what I own in Australia remains to my kids in Australia and what I own in the Philippines belongs to my partner (all individuals are named not just their status). The will in Australia was prepared by the same legal firm which has an office in Manila and which prepared my Filipino will. P
People also need to be aware that most (?all) governments will look at worldwide assets at time death for tax purposes. I assume they can do that only for those assets they can find out about. Also, there may be a lifetime cap on how much can be transferred to a foreign spouse free of tax.
This man was from Norway and I do believe he has some benefits for his child from his mother country, I also believe the child also has a Norwegian Passport, but the parents were never married?
Well at least he was smart enough to do that (hopefully). I would have the mother get in touch with the Embassy and ask what assistance is available for Norwegian children in that situation.
It is an interesting concept that if I marry a lady I am responsible for her even after my death. I thought there was a marriage vow about "until death do us part" at which point you are on your own. I am being facetious as I do know there are times when a man customarily leaves some funding for his widow and/or children. However, that is an individual thing. Any woman who has come into my life has been told that I already have beneficiaries to my will. They are called grown children from a previous marriage and it seems niggardly of me to tell my children that daddy wants a new wife so they will not get their inheritance. So I deal with it by giving a portion of my income to my live-in partner while I am alive and we are together. She can spend it or save it but when I die she is told there is nothing extra. If she chooses not to stay because of that arrangement then I will buy her a ticket back to her family. In fact, I flat out told her its not a good deal for her and she could do better by finding a rich foreigner who will give her more financial aid while alive and leave her a house and money when he dies. But when I die and she has nothing but whatever personal effects I leave lying around, remember it was her choice to stay on those terms, right from day one. (Disclaimer: We are not legally married and have no children together. Those situations would require further discussion between her and I.)
Well I am so different from you and I make sure my family is looked after well after my death, whether it be in the Philippines or back home in Scotland, I cannot believe someone would use a young Pinay, possibly the best years of their life and likely many years their junior? and then leave no provision for them after they die, I guess Santa does not come to your house either as she can buy her own presents with her 50 peso monthly allowance?
