Just a thought, but having just read another "....will never go there again" for a sorta new restaurant, i realized that Dumaguete has SO FEW REALLY good restaurants that NO place should ever be totally written off.. Just sayin'.. Give a few months and try again.. Most new places have a shakey start up...

And the only TRUE terrible thing about dumaguete is the DISMAL lack of decent Thai and Dim Sum. It's the ONLY thing i miss about San Fran... I have not even found good Thai in cebu or manila (tried three up there).. I have found NO thai restaurant in this entire country with Pra Ram or Pad Me Kao... Spice had it once, passable...

SPEAKING OF PLACES (YES, I'M SHOUTING).. WHEN THE HELL WILL ANY RESTAURANT, I MEAN ANY, IN THIS BURG LEARN TO SERVE THE APPETIZER AND THEN THE MAIN COURSES TOGETHER.
ONE OF MY FAVS, "ONE OF THE BEST" (eat there weekly) YESTERDAY SERVED:
    1. one main course
    2. the appetizer (10 min later)
    3. the other main course (after the other finished )

Is the kitchen staff that unorganized, yes they were very busy, but ???

That is when you leave a tip. The tip can also let them know when they have "F..ked UP". How can that be? Just leave a 5 centavo coin. The 5 centavos is to TIP then off as to their "F..ked UP". If you leave nothing they just thing you is a tightwad foreigner and assume you are happy with their service. In this case a 5 centavo coin can go a long way. :yuck:

Sorry, GP, but that tells them nothin because they have no clue what they did wrong, and it's not their fault, it's the kitchen... UNLESS you talk to the manager or owner. For the kids here in DG, who may support an entire family on tips (salaries are set by the owner assuming some tips), that is nuts.

I tip about 10% (in pesos, not centavos), based on some discussion here two years ago..

Whilst I am one of the first to moan about the delivery of meals to the table I often ask are we to blame in a small way? I know we should not have to say things at times but we must remember where we are and things are so slow on the uptake, so now, I make it abundantly clear we want starters first. Then please clear away and bring both main courses Together. I tend to make it clear that if I or my wife wanted to eat separately we would have stayed at Home. Harsh? maybe but the message gets through most of the time

Partially true, the only problem with that Jack, is that in most cases, the problem is not in the wait staff, but in the kitchen, and i'm not sure the kitchen gives a sh*t what the wait staff tells them. At my fav's, the wait staff always apologizes profusely to us (regulars) when the kitchen screws up, they KNOW how we like things....

You want them served together? In many countries the appetizer is served ahead of the main course, along with drinks, to prepare your appetite for the main course.

I find this is easily fixed by ordering drinks and the appetizer and then, when they arrive, ordering the main course. Adapt and overcome the problem. Otherwise, you are allowing their failure to be your problem.
