I found this article written by a filipino to be inspiring. Hope it's not fake news.

    WHY!?

Because it's a developing nation? It wasn't too long ago that these issues largely didn't exist. You also don't need to travel for to find places where these issues still don't exist. Maybe X developing nation or X region deals with this stuff better, but the Philippines will come around. Development is uneven. We b*tch about it because we know what a well working system looks like. Filipinos go abroad and even they start bitching about home because they also see well working systems.

Sari-Sari stores and many of these internet cafes shouldn't exist because just about anything would be a better use of that space. But wages are low and those people already own that space. Development hasn't yet steam-rolled these odd little businesses. Malls are dying in the US, so you know the same will happen here as Lazada takes off. The list goes on.

Development will come. And many of us will move on to places where there isn't so much development.

If you have any medical issues I would recommend staying in Thailand. Their medical facilities are decades ahead of anything in the Philippines.

Very good advice however has a caveat in that you need real money to be treated for any Medical emergency otherwise no Treatment, also no medical assurance is available. I lived in Angeles 9 years ago and Plan A was if in Pain Catch the plane. Thank you for your Concern it is a sad fact that only In Australia would i get adequate treated for free. I have weighed up the situation and I will get medical advise during my trip to Australia in the new Year and review Thank you

The same applies to the Philippines; no money, no honey...except you get much worse medical care for the $$. I don't know if single expats can even get philhealth, though there may be other options available. Not sure it would be cost effective or even possible to get coverage above the age of 60-65 unless you were already a customer of the insurance company prior to that age.

First off keep in mind the guard likely doesn't care. They receive orders from the top and if they don't comply 200% they are promptly fired and unlikely to find work again as a guard as the big places often ruin a guard if fired with the placement companies out of spite (seen it happen a few times. Those at the top making the calls don't see or care about circumstances. To them an old woman who just spent 100k shopping is no different then the 14 year old street urchin sitting down begging as they tell the guard NO one sitting outside the entrances and don't establish a basic frame of who it refers to. Yet if that guard doesn't say something and the boss happens to see/hear of it then bye bye, no excuses.

The school system here is a joke as well. Many public schools use one book for every subject and that is only now starting to change and that one book is often covering more then 1 year as well. Now compare to developed countries every subject has its own book and that may even change to a different book every year. Teachers are hard pressed on making *lesson plans* for each day that look *pretty* and that is what is taught in college for teachers. Almost none of these kids know their multiplication table or can do what is considered simple math to you and I even when graduated high school. Some of the private schools are better as far as the teachers and books go but they face the same problem they can't control which are spoiled brat kids and parents who don't care ruining it for the rest.

As far as the other issues nothing will change here. The people are more stubborn then a donkey and refuse to accept their own faults. Laws are in the books that could handle so many issues and have been in the books for over a decade but nothing is enforced even slightly because out of every 10 people rounded up likely 9 are guilty of whatever the charge is such as littering, smoking in public, etc etc.
