Well my 3 years are soon up and before I do the 13a I thought I would slip in a trip to Singapore with my Asawa for a balikbayan visa. The hitch is that we were wondering if her maiden name passport with our marriage license would be enough for Immigration to grant us this visa (I know it is up to their discretion) so we would not have to go through the hassle of a PDOS in Cebu and a new passport with her married name. I have researched to no avail so any personal experience here ? Thanks
Here is what we went through; 4 months after wedding she was in the US. Two years latter she was a US Citizen. 22 years in the US we retired here. I entered with a balikbayan visa. 14 months later we hired an attorney to handle both her Duel Citizenship and my 13a. We made a one day trip to Cebu for signing, finger prints and mugshot, was back in Dumaguete the same day. A year later the second trip to Cebu for my permanent 13a. That was 7 years ago. I do not know who it works now. Good luck.
Just bring bring your marriage contract, the official one from NSO, and you should be fine. Wife and I never had a problem.
Funny yes - but some people actually do just that! I know of one who told immigration his wife would be coming into the country the next month! As I found out, the spouses have to be literally standing next to each other to gain a BB.
