Does anyone or has anyone used a virtual mailbox in the US? I have a PO box in PhilPost in Dumaguete but was also thinking about a virtual mailbox for banking and other needs.

Don't banks ask for proof of address, such as utility bills?

I was thinking more about in the US, which the original poster asked about. If the banks insist on seeing utility bills in the new-bank-account holder's name then that would be a problem, even if borrowing an address.

earthclassmail.com is one possibility, which is expensive at $69 / month as of this writing. You can find alternatives by Googling something like "earthclassmail alternatives."

I agree with the other posts that certain things may not be so simple as throwing a mailing address at them. The anti money laundering KYC (know your customer) laws probably have something to do with this. The ****ing U.S. government makes things difficult for us homeless and nomads to participate in the system.

    There is also this requirement...

    Good luck!

I have used a virtual mailbox for about 4 years now. The thing is, it is really not virtual. It is a real brick and mortar building in Houston, TX. That is my U.S. official address. The one I use is. USA2ME.com Check it out. Also, there are no income taxes in Texas. You get a real address. I use it for all my banking needs and Social Security.

For over a year I've been using a PhysicalAddress.com account. It works very well and cost $47 USD per six months. Whenever mail is received by them they send you a notification and you can then see a scan of the envelope. If you need to, you can then ask them to scan the contents and you can download as a PDF. You can also have them forward the item for you to another address. I use this address for my US bank, medicare, IRS, social security and there has been no problems.

I have used TravelingMailBox.com for several years. about $200/yr for the plan I selected, not the lowest or highest cost plan. They recieve mail, scan it and send me an email to view my account. I then have options to save, download, forward, shred and delete. You know what your mail is within 24 hours of when you would have it in the US and forwarding here is reasonable because they pass on their commercial discount + $2 processing.

I use traveling mailbox as well, works great. It also gives you a US address for US credit cards which is useful living here. I use it as US mailing address for my employment with Dumaguete as physical address just to receive mail in timely manner.
