    “I wonder how how / why he even had ownership of an SUV and what percentage of SUV ownership is here.”

    I live in Bacong and each time I see someone with a plastic bag or an SUV I run if they have a gun no problem probably the use it for suicide, Merry Christmas everyone

    Assuming you mean "most easily treated", I wonder why you think that? I would say that for some people, it is one of the most difficult to treat.

    I am not sure if this has come up in this thread yet, but we also have to consider that the man killed himself out of remorse - a huge thing to exist whilst knowing you were at fault in removing the life of an innocent child.

    The gun mention in my post really threw people for a loop.

    Gun ownership generally isn't high around the world except in the America's, which is perhaps partially why we see so many gun deaths in both the US and the rest of N. and S. America.

    I have assumed that one of the reasons gun ownership is so high in the U.S. is a relative ease to obtain them. There's lot of guns. The guns are cheap. The law isn't a significant barrier for ownership. Further, the U.S. has a strong culture for ownership of guns, perhaps in part as a nod to the 2nd amendment.

    Elsewhere in the world (as a whole,) you're an outlier if you own guns and there's likely a good reason for any given person to have one. If you're an outlier, then what's your situation in this case?

    What's the chance that this person received swift justice in a small community and was setup? What's the chance this person was already a known bad actor and he received a warning that he's on a special list or he can do the deed himself?

    Not sure where you are from, but yes the Second Amendment has a lot of impact on gun ownership, it impacts the law abiders. Criminals get their title because they don't abide by the law, hence criminals access to guns.

    Australia banned guns a few decades ago. Recently they ran an amnesty program to turn in illegal firearms, they netted some 50,000, so what did those laws do.

    You would be surprised how many Filipinos own a firearm, look at how many get in shoot outs with the police. I venture to say most of those cases are not legally owned and purchased firearms.

    It is unlawful for me to own a weapon here and it is the first time in my adult life that I have not had one, I abide by the law.

    Take a trip to Danao Cebu, it is the gun capital of the Philippines.

    Sao Paolo in Brazil has many deaths by guns. At one point they were the murder capital of the world.

    France has some of the toughest gun control laws in all of Europe but it did not stop a terrorist recently from shooting many people.

    Criminals will get guns, regardless of the laws imposed.

    Oh yes they are. They both kill people. In the USA, far more people are killed by motor vehicles than by guns. But I do understand why the deep states of the world’s governments do not want to have potential opposition force to their domestic militaries.

    Right, I agree with this, but the underlying culture is important. The Philippines may (or may not) have laws which could enable a high rate of gun ownership, but the culture is an important variable for the actual numbers. The culture in the US specifically pushes gun ownership in certain segments. For example, many people own guns in the US as a statement of their political ideology. In many areas, gun ownership is tied to hunting game.

    If someone is an outlier in gun ownership, then I wonder what the reason for that ownership might be. And I wonder if that reason could have been a factor in this case. Was this actually a suicide? If it were a suicide, could there have been threats made against his life?

    I'm probably way overthinking this. :wink:

    I've ridden around EVERY major and medium, and many minor islands here, for a year, over 15000 miles, with only one minor accident. Ya just gotta wing it, and go with the flow, retarded as it is.
