An 11 hour layover at the airport? I tried that in HK, I departed the International terminal after getting passport stamped. Ended up in a lobby with nothing open all night.

Do passports need to be stamped in Macau? Incoming and outgoing.

My last exit was to Kota Kinabalu, but I stayed 5 nights at the Jesselton hotel.

The cheapest exit is via Zamboanga City to Sandakan. But the ferry from Z city stops at Tawi Tawi and passports are stamped in Jolu Sulu at the pier. The return is the same..its an overnight in Sandakan. This trip is no longer recommended.

How many days does the exit visa last? I am going out in May.

Exit Visa is good for 30 days

There was definitely something open at HKG. Airport premium/VIP lounges are usually always open. Priority Pass is well worth looking into for anyone who travels a lot. (It is "free" if you have a AMEX Platinum card.)

They also have several lounges at MNL that are quite nice.

Macau hasn't stamped passports in some years now.

It's not the worst place for an 11-hour layover, but I certainly wouldn't do it at the airport - It's not HKG (which BTW also hasn't stamped passports in some years now), it's really quite small. But Macau is very small itself so it's very quick and easy to spend the day in the city itself and / or at one of the large casinos in Cotai (which is where the airport is).

There is some very good food there (particularly if you like Chinese of course), a few sites to see, some shopping, etc.

All the hotels/casinos run free shuttles so typically no need to take a cab anywhere. Just keep in mind that cabbies and most folks outside of the hospitality industry don't speak English.

Connecting to International flights in the Philippines can cause headaches. I was stuck in Mactan for 7 hours due to traffic in Manila.
When the Cebu Pacific flight finally landed in Cebu, the air crew departed the plane and went to the hotel. Had to wait for a replacement crew.

So if they do not stamp passports then how will Philippines know that I have left the country ?
My 11 hrs will be mostly daylight and will spend it sightseeing and shopping for a new tablet so should be fun

Because you went through immigration and got an exit stamp before leaving the Philippines? Or maybe that you had just got off a incoming international flight? Those are a few of the subtle hints that I would have picked up on if I were an immigration officer and saw a foreigner coming through the immigration entry line.

Check Air Asia for promo flights CEB > MFM round trip P4000, maybe use the savings to get a hotel for the night and make it civilized.
