I am thinking of relocating to Dumaguete and one of my considerations would be to find a job for my Filipina wife. She understands and speaks good English and is thinking of working in a call centre. If not a call centre, maybe other suggestions can be offered. Thanks!
Working in a call center can be tough. The working hours align with the day in the USA. Which means working the night shift. Then you are dealing with customers who have become frustrated with the automated processes. Finally, the pay here is very low. Currently the call centers are advertising top wages of 18,000 php per month which is only $400 US. Her working nights may reduce the quality of life you share together as you will be on different schedules. I commend your interest in finding a sustainable future for your wife. There are much better employment opportunities in the western world.
Many filipinas here who speak good English go overseas to work, rather than working here for poor wages at a department store or Jollibee. If she doesn’t have a college degree, she could find a job as a helper, but I wouldn’t recommend that for a wife.
I can tell that there is at least one call center in Dumaguete. I have a relative that works in one. Could probably get information on it if interested.
Thanks for the info so far! If we decide to move to Dumaquete, we will be looking for accommodation either furnished or unfurnished. Max rental ceiling 10k pm. If anyone knows of rental property or an agent etc, I would be most grateful. Many thanks...
Hello! If you take a look at these jobsites, a lot of call centers are looking for people. They are paying bonuses as long as you pass their simple English test. And 18,000 may not be much back in the US, but it’s decent enough here for a starting. www.jobstreet.com.ph www.indeed.ph
10 10k is the bones of your wifes future salary............what do you bring to the table ???? and where are you locating from ?????.........
With respect, I fail to see what that has got to do with you, nor is it relevant to my question. ...Perhaps you can explain the relevance.
10k should be more than enough for a semi furnished house/apartment. Best way to find it is to avoid agents or rental property company! Try facebook and search for Bid for me groups in Dumaguete so you can deal with the house owner directly and at a local price. Right now im paying 5.5k for 2 bed rooms/living room/kitchen and balcony in Dumaguete. If you need any help just MP me, take care.
