Health & Wellness Zolpidem (Zoldem) in Dumaguete?

    Living on Siquijor island has its limitations, one of which is access to certain medicines, especially controlled substances such as Zolpidem for insomnia. I would like to find a pharmacy in Dumaguete that actually stocks Zolpidem. I have run out of patience with, "sorry, sir, we are out of stock". In fact, most of the pharmacies are never in stock, a problem I ran into in Cebu city.

    The only pharmacy that consistently stocks Zolpidem in Cebu city is Mercury Drugs. However, the new Mercury Drugstore in Siquijor, even after more than a year, has not been issued a license to stock it. So, I hope someone in the forum knows of a Dumaguete pharmacy that consistently stocks this medication. I would appreciate a cp or landline contact if available. The generic brand of Zolpidem is Zoldem and sells for 60 P per 10 mg tablet at Mercury in Cebu. Thanks ahead.

    Have a look along the main h'way just about opposite Filproducts. There is a pharmacy supplier/wholesaler there married to an American. Maybe she can help. It's easy to see and it has a small parking area in front of it.

    Ambien. In the US zolpidem is a Class V narcotic with almost no potential for addiction. Yet they require special licenses to sell it. I used to take it to help me sleep but then one of the Kennedy’s went crazy somewhere, he blamed it on ambien and alcohol, after which the media equated it to crack cocaine, why, because they are idiots. Anyway, they cut the normal dose strength in half so thus harmless but somewhat effective drug became useless. But even at original strength. 10 mg I think, it stops working after a while. I would imagine that Mercury drug has it.

    I'm also interested, so please let us know if you find a place and whether or not you need to have a doctors prescription. By the way, a recent study found that individuals above age 60 who take more than 90 doses per year of ambien double their risk for Alzheimers. So, it really needs to used for occasional use only when you really need to sleep and can't. Once per week or less should really be the maximum frequency. CBD oils have been found to be even more effective than ambien for sleep without the negative side effects, but we're not likely to see them here anytime soon.

    Yeah, considering that the drug stops working after a few months and becomes useless if taken everyday (tolerance build up), and the potential for Alzheimer’s, it seems like the medication is not too useful for older retirees unless they use it for rare, special purposes like being able to sleep on long plane trips. My doctor said is was much less addictive than benzodiazepines (Valium etc.) and I believe her. For CDB, maybe this cannabis derivative works but the more pleasant part of the herb would like be a lot better lol. Either one is serious criminal offense here due to the pharmacy industry influence on governments outlawing herbal treatments that work better than their chemical formularies. Interestingly, I understand that the herb in question is legal in Iran and North Korea for some reason.
