You will find this news story in Headz Up Neg Or, the FB page of Negros Oriental and the date of the story says June 15, that means today. The news states that a 50-year-old American guy was arrested for violation of a law against drugs.

I find this sad since this fellow is not from this country and getting into such a situation should be the last thing he should have done. I am just sharing this because some of you might know him, his name is in the news story.

Such small amounts of drugs too, maybe an addict? He will probably get jail time... no mental health programs here.

    Arrested doesn't mean convicted.

Or there wasn't any real evidence collected the first time.

Drug offenses are bailable. There are only a few things like serious corruption charges that have no bail. If the charges are weak ( or you are " important") the judge will still grant bail.

8 grams is no small amount... he is a medium level street dealer and hopefully will not bail out this time...

No it isn't. It wasn't last time they arrested him. I doubt it will be any different this time around.

That is actually a pretty small amount. You could probably sell to around 12-24 people with that amount and make about a P500 to 2k profit per gram. He would be lucky to pay his rent after paying for fuel in deliveries. (Judging from the looks of his rental in the photos the last time he was arrested.)

I'd say he is likely (allegedly) dealing to support his (alleged) habit. My guess would be that he was selling 7 grams to pay for the 8th and keep that for himself (or sell 8 and keep the 9th that was probably hidden in his house). A gram would probably last a heavy user a couples weeks. Maybe a month?

If he is guilty he is a very small fry. I'm sure they are far more interested in who is supplying him. If the evidence is strong against him there is likely a deal to be offered.

What happened to "shoot first, ask questions later"? Drug dealing in many asian countries is not for the faint of heart.
