Several high end beach resorts to the South West of the beach. They aren't giving up their property and I'm going to bet they aren't too welcoming to tourists disturbing their customers. Not that low-class budget tourists would ever pay the prices for that exclusivity. I understand the beach is public but I'm willing to bet their security will make it unpleasant for the vagabonds to loiter around the property.
The will be neighbors, waterpark and hotel on the east side of Bohol Beach Club. There is middle class resorts there today, the plan is to buy all these resorts and built one new hotel/resort. Momo Beach on North side of Panglao, 10-15 min from Alona, then you are away from the crowd
I was dragged along to Bohol this last trip, the compromise was that I got to pick the resort so South Palms is where we ended up going. It was a great resort but I have no real interest in going back (to Panglao). But if I ever find myself in a situation where I have to return I have your post bookmarked.
Game changer was the new airport in Bohol, combined with the temporary closing down of Boracay. There will be more hotels of all categories in Bohol and of course Korean and Chinese visitors will visit Bohol more frequently.
For now, the airport is totally deserted but it looks good and when it comes up running, estimated 800 passengers a day good business but a shithole to live in. Before it was 90% of western people who live in Panglao and visit there as a tourist that change now for sure
I personally enjoy e.g. siquijor with its limited cell phone coverage and been to that very same beach on Panglao in December as well. No need to lecture on social media and its problems as well, I'm old enough to avoid wasting my time there. Once you not only see the Philippines as your vacation spot / personal playground but as a country that tries to keep up with its neighbours economically then 4g coverage and overseas connection speeds are an interesting thing to compare.
The budget quoted of about 23k pesos per month for a single person, renting a "nice apartment in a more expensive part of the city" will surely be questioned by many - unless the renter stays in to watch TV.
